iPhone Flip: Rumors about Apple’s foldable smartphone
The concept of foldable smartphones came up during the 2019 Consumer Electrics Show with the Royole FlexPai. It combines the portability of a regular phone with the advantages. Aside from that, it also unfolds inner displays that rival tablets for screen real estate. Then, Samsung comes out with the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. Then, rumors recently circulated about Apple releasing a foldable iPhone prototype dubbed either an iPhone Air or iPhone Flip.
iPhone Flip: Rumors about Apple’s foldable smartphone
In an earlier report from Gulf News, Apple’s foldable iPhone will have a possible release in September 2022. However, other reports state that 2023 may become its planned release date. These reports also have expressed that two foldable iPhone designs became under testing at the Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, China.
The foldable prototype also has a dual-screen model with clamshell displays hinged together. Meanwhile, it seems to have a design that looks like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. Tests like these would typically involve more than a hundred thousand opening and closing tests.

Although Apple makes no comments on such reports, photos also surfaced of the foldable iPhone from ADR Studio. However, the release date has remained one of the subjects in this speculations. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, on the other hand, suggests that 2023 may become more realistic.
Aside from Apple’s nonexistent comments, 9to5mac also posted a question regarding the rumors last February 22. Then, the industry publication asked whether or not people are ready for the foldable iPhone. So far, most of the votes remain at 50.1% on No.
