It all started when I accidentally found the show during my pre-teen years as I was trying to find something to watch on our old boxed TV. The Sex and the City movies and series eventually became my awakening to the world of fashion and writing. I owe it all to the main character Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, for being my groundbreaking inspiration to be who I am today.
Before meeting her best friends, the New Yorker and fashion journalist achieved her dream of an internship. Carrie worked towards her goals at such a young age that made me have an early existential crisis at 16. A cute apartment in New York, a stable writing job, a whole wardrobe full of clothes, and four loyal best friends. Carrie is truly living the ultimate Tita dream.

The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.
Rewatching the series, you will find that every episode with Carrie is always another fashion inspiration. The it girl is known for her branded pieces – from dresses to shoes and accessories. I mean, who would not use the advantage of being a famous writer from Vogue?
Carrie carries everything she wears with grace and confidence. Moreover, she never goes out without the perfect outfit to wear. With a closet as big as hers, I do not think she would let that happen anyway.
Passion For Writing
After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breathe and reboot.
Carrie’s daily habit of writing started with a diary, as most writers did before computers became a mandatory essential. Her writing mostly revolves around love, style, friendship, and life in general. However, Carrie keeps it real as she captures how writers see every situation through words that would fill the void.
Perhaps this is a mere romanticization of what the life of a writer is truly like. Because believe me, it is not at all cute when you are stuck between several deadlines. But it does not hurt to put love in all the things that you do, even if they sometimes tend to suck the soul out of you. Nevertheless, Carrie brings back the fun of writing and will truly entice you for a thought-provoking journal session.
Hopeless Romantic Guide To Relationships
When it comes to relationships, maybe we’re all in glass houses, and shouldn’t throw stones. Because you can never really know. Some people are settling down, some are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.
Carrie has been through a lot of struggle when it comes to finding true love. She taught me that being single is not as bad as we think it is when we look at loving couples on dates. Being single is a lot more fun especially when you are young, exploring your adult life. Therefore, I would never forget this one line that stayed with me since 2017.
Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.
Meanwhile, after being single for a long time, she comes to terms with what she exactly wants from a committed relationship. Carrie’s journey of love just shows that family is not only about having a child or being a parent. A woman can be happy with their partner without the pressuring need to be a mother.

Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course we wouldn’t fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it’s comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart.
New York City is every writer and fashion enthusiast’s dream place. It is the BGC and Makati of the world – the center of city living. Before moving to the workaholic city, Carrie used to be a suburban girl, not knowing how to grab a taxi’s attention or survive in a small apartment.
Eventually, the city became her home as she gets used to all its beauty and ugliness. And despite the rats, crimes, and overpriced apartments, New York is still full of opportunities for finding love and achieving success. In the city, Carrie learned independence and self-worth.
Dream Wedding
I’m looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other love.
If you have watched the movies, then you would know that the wedding did not end well. However, it is still the most gorgeous and romantic wedding I have seen in my entire life!
Imagine getting married in the biggest library in New York with the love of your life, filled with the world’s greatest romance stories. Also having famous fashion designers design your wedding dress for free, I may add. It was stunning and phenomenal, it makes me want to get married too (but not right now, of course).
Carrie’s impeccable influence and wisdom have been my map for the last 7 years of my life. As someone in her early 20s, I realized the weight of her words all through these years. Thus, I owe it to her for being an empowered and stylish woman who has set an example for young adults and writers like me.
