Daily Affirmations and What They Can Do for You

It’s easy to forget how to take care of yourself sometimes. Recently, I discovered that when I have a lot to juggle on my plate, I tend to get stressed out and my thoughts get ahead of me. One of the methods that work for me is daily affirmations.
I remember affirmations from my experience with yoga videos online. And on a random morning, in the middle of my routine of waking up, I said an affirmation to myself. It’s amazing how much it improved my day.
A sentence to change your mindset
It sounds cheesy, I know, but words hold power. Your thoughts in the morning influence how you’re going to view your day. Just like the difference between waking up well-rested and waking up from the wrong side of the bed, how we start the day matters.

Affirmations are positive statements that can help redirect your energy and mindset. While research has shown that affirmations are often a hit or miss, I think if you’re going to try it out for the first time, which affirmation you’re going to use affects how it will positively influence your thoughts. I try to say affirmations that are representative of who I am.
Practicing self-affirmation means you’ll need to take stock of what feels right for you to say and carry throughout the day. I don’t feel like I’m lying when I’m saying my daily affirmation, because instead of convincing me, the affirmation reminds me to think positively about how I view my day.
Stress is always going to be a part of our lives
Apparently, I’m not alone in being stressed. In 2020, SWS reported that around 86% of Filipinos were experiencing stress brought on by the pandemic. While that number improved last year, it’s clear that stress affects everyone.
A little discontent helps us push through our obstacles. Stress is a massive part of us getting out of our comfort zone and improving. Today may not be great, but tomorrow could be better. I use daily affirmations because while my situation may not change overnight, a perspective shift can help me overcome my problems.
