Rico Blanco features a dystopian world in Palibot-libot MV

Acclaimed singer-songwriter/producer Rico Blanco manifests a desolate grim reality in the music video of “Palibot-libot”, his latest single under Sony Music Entertainment.

The music video feels exactly like a Black Mirror episode. Blanco’s latest single embraces you with its looming darkness, bittersweet narrative, and brain-wracking story.

The song reflects the inevitable uncertainty lurking in friendships and relationships. A character in a series filmed by Rico Blanco inspired “Palibot-libot“. The mv features a relationship “anchored precariously on someone’s steadfast devotion”. Rico coveys a hard reality about love not always being synchronized. Love comes with misunderstandings, complications, regrets, and unsaid words. But that’s exactly why love is beautiful.

Directed by Cris Escolano and Rico Blanco, the music video visualizes a story of humanity in a hopeless, dystopian world. The MV stars Rico Blanco, model Tuti Pon, and Richard Somes’ robotic creation called “The Entity”. Pon expressed that she enjoyed playing the female lead, along with the challenge that comes with pulling off her character authentically.

“It was definitely a new experience for me and I’d do it again if I got a chance.”

Production Designer Justine Arcega-Bumanlag expressed her delight in working with the team and bringing the music video’s creative ideas to life.

“For this, Rico Blanco was aiming for a classic-looking music video that stands the test of time. He wanted to veer away from CGIs, so we started building a set that looks like wreckage from an unknown planet, and using it all throughout the time.”

Rico Blanco’s fourth studio album will feature”Palibot-libot”, to be released under Sony Music Entertainment. Blanco also performed the song in a concert in Smart Araneta Coliseum last September 2022.
