University Fairs: Reasons to Bring Concerts Back
All organizers, committee heads, and partner organizations joined efforts. It made 7 different classic bands and individuals perform at the university live until midnight. These include The Itchyworms, Gloc-9, Parokya ni Edgar, Rocksteddy, Muni-muni, and more.
This happens successfully also because of the willing volunteers who organized the biggest concert in PUP – including the student photographers who volunteered to document the event such as Mhelissa Marie Angcana and Phoebe Grace Amadore.
Students’ core memories in University Concerts
If you’re wondering what made them go to university concerts, it is because they were just invited by a colleague to join the said concert. Considering that it would be a great opportunity for them to learn and equip their photography skills. It became one of the greatest factors why it was included in their most memorable experiences in PUP.
“I really savored the thought it was the time we got to meet other PUPians who share the same passion in photography and also the event goes and the artists were a blast to have,”
Mhelissa said.
“It was my first (official) photography gig. I didn’t think of it as something big until the event. It was fun doing it with friends and having a free pass in front. It’s also memorable because I believe it was my first concert event too.”
Phoebe added.
According to the two, PUP Ignite helped them to gain experience in the field of production. This also guided them to be confident in their skills in photography.
Enchanting experiences in Concerts
Truly, the overall PUP Ignite experience is one to remember throughout college life – it happened with no expectations, just fun memories with friends – the privilege of being the main photographer of the university concert, getting exclusive access, and being in front near the main stage. Phoebe and Mhelissa had the opportunity to see the artists up close and interact with them and also have a full view of the amazing crowd.
Phoebe and Mhelissa are living proof that university concerts should be performed again today. As graduating PUP students, they are the existing testimony that concerts allow students to enjoy, and would be a great gathering for the students.
“Even though there are strict regulations right now due to the pandemic, I believe having university concerts is a way for the students to enjoy and unwind with friends. Besides, it can help promote a certain issue if needed. For instance, Ignite is a call for help regarding the Taal incident back then. I also think that university concerts are becoming a norm noting the other universities that are doing it annually. The diversity of artists can also serve as an enlightenment to the audience for broadening their discography”, Phoebe stated.
Overall, university concerts are very overwhelming and the energy is indeed amazing – concerts are where the dreamers go, it is where the movement and the symphonies are highly alive. There is a piece of unexplainable power music can bring, but apart from that, the memories are winning.
May we all have great memories like Phoebe and Mhelissa treasured – may we all experience these vivid memories we truly aspire to.
