So, why has it gone viral? Two words. Incredible aesthetics.

So, what is the Nothing phone and why has it gone viral?

The Nothing phone has come with a 6.55-inch flat OLED display, and Snapdragon 778G+. dual 50MP rear cameras, 4,500 mAh battery, and 33W fast charging. And, of course, their pride — the Glype Interface at its back panel. Nothing CEO and founder Carl Pei spearheaded the launch. He said its build is made of 100% recycled aluminum frame, sandwiched between two Corning Gorilla 5 protection on the back and front panels.

When it comes to pricing and availability, on the other hand, the Nothing phone starts off at Php 27, 990 for 8GB + 128GB and Php 29, 990 for 8GB + 256GB.

The company first confirmed that it has started working on a smartphone during its March 23 event. Then, it slowly gave fans news of an official launch on July 12. However, the Nothing Phone (1) has only become available across the UK, Europe, and Asia. The phone won’t be available in the US or Canada, until further notice.

According to an interview with PCMag, they confirmed that they run a “closed beta program” with a “limited number of our private community investors in the US.”

“While we’d love to bring phone (1) to the entire community around the world, we’re focusing on home markets, including the UK and Europe, where we have strong partnerships with leading local carriers. It takes a lot to launch a smartphone as you know, from ensuring the handset is supported by the country’s cellular technologies to carrier partnerships and local regulation, and as we’re still a young brand we need to be strategic about it.”

The most impressive feature is the Glyph Interface which is the LED light strips on the back panel. It flashes in white various patterns and reasons:

  • Flashing for notifications
  • Glowing around the charging coil when reverse wireless charging
  • Slowly filling the bottom bar when using wired charging, as a battery indicator
  • All illuminating at once as a fill light when using the camera
  • Flashing in distinct patterns in time to a number of pre-set ringtones and notification alerts
