Cinematic History in a Nutshell
We first saw the magic of Disney’s Peter Pan back in 1953’s animated film of the same name. Pan’s design in the film remains to be one of his most iconic looks even to this day. Hook starred Robin Williams as the aged Peter, an alternative continuation of the boy beyond Neverland. Julia Roberts also played Tinkerbell, alongside Dustin Hoffman as the fearsome Captain Hook.
Peter Pan (2003) starred Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Peter and Wendy. The movie featured state-of-the-art visual effects compared to its predecessors, despite its unusually cold reception. Pan (2015) took a different course and provided a different origin story for the boy that never grows. Hugh Jackman played Blackbeard, alongside Levi Miller as Peter Pan, and Garrett Hedlund as Hook.
The Disney+ film will be the latest addition to the ensemble of the tale told for over a century.
