Introducing Greg, Pixar Studio’s first-ever gay lead
It’s about time! The LGBT community rejoices as Pixar welcomed for the very first time a gay lead character named Greg in its new short film entitled ‘Out.’
The studio announced the good news earlier last week as they uploaded a first look of the nine-minute film, which is part of the seven short films in Pixar’s SparkShorts series.

Out is Pixar’s first-ever film starring a same sex couple and a gay main character.
It follows the heartwarming story of Greg, who is preparing to move into a new city with his boyfriend, Manuel, while struggling to “come out of the closet” and reveal his true sexuality to his parents.
His coming out story unravels when parents pay him a surprise visit to help him pack stuff before leaving. This was followed by a dramatic conversation that led to his big revelation.
Through the help of his dog and some magic, Greg finally unloads what’s holding him back from revealing his heart.
The teaser drew positive feedback in social media, with netizens grateful for the much-anticipated representation.
Pixar didn’t release a film with an openly gay character until Onward earlier this year. The film featured Lena Waithe voicing the small role of a female police officer who references having a girlfriend.
It can be streamed on Disney+.
