Facebook now has a feature that lets you watch videos together with your friends!
Having a party online is note really the same as the traditional face-to-face setup. However, this is a better option than not to have nothing at all. Netflix already has a watch party so you can stream a movie with your family and friends. Spotify is doing the same thing with its listening or dance party feature. And now, Facebook Messenger is introducing the ‘Watch Together’!
A good way of bonding with friends or engaging a community?
So what is the Watch Together all about? This new feature on Facebook Messenger allows you to share videos with friends in real-time. As its name implies, users can watch the video and see each other on the mobile app at the same time. This co-watching experience can be used by up to eight people in a Messenger video chat on mobile, or by up to 50 people in Messenger Rooms.
Moreover, the content may range from rending clips, movies, sports highlight, makeup tutorials, and many more. In addition to that, you can also rewatch videos with friends even they have already seen those ones. According to Facebook, this feature is great for content creators who aim to engage their community in their videos. The company just had a partnership with celebrity fitness trainer Melissa Alcantara to create a series of fitness videos. The goal is to encourage netizens to virtually work out with their friends.
You can follow these simple steps in order to enjoy the Watch Together feature:
1. Begin a Messenger video call or launch a Messenger Room.
2. Swipe up to access the menu and choose Watch Together.
3. Choose something to watch from the selection of videos.
You may select from the suggested ones or go to categories such as TV & Movies, Watched, or Uploaded. Aside from that, you can search for other content in the search bar of the Watch Together feature. Note that this feature is currently rolling out globally in Messenger and Messenger Rooms for iOS and Android. The best thing is, anyone can use it for free!
