Miss Cameroon, Africa Angèle Kossinda chose 20-year-old Kennedy Jhon Gasper. He sets to create the national costume. He currently takes up a Bachelor of Science in Fashion and Textile Technology. Aside from that, he also majors in Fashion Designing and levels as a third-year student from CLSU.

Through a Facebook post, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) made the announcement. Thus, Gasper thanked his teachers for their help in the comments.

The caption also read,

Our 3rd-year student of BSFTT-FD has (been) given a big role as national costume designer to one of the candidates of MISS UNIVERSE 2021.

According to the post, Gasper “has proven himself as an outstanding student and fashion designer” already through his hard work.

On Monday, Gasper also posted a screenshot of Kossinda’s Instagram Story. It also shows a portrait of her and a number of his creations popped off.

In an Instagram post on May 4, Miss Universe Cameroon Angele Kossinda shared screenshots of articles reporting this. The 20-year-old student Kennedy John Gasper became the designer behind her national costume. Hence, she praised the Filipino fashion student who designed her national costume. He called him a “very young talented man who also deserves this opportunity.”

Then, she wrote in the caption,

I’m overwhelmed by the Filipino and the media for the support. Indeed a national costume represents your country’s legacy, culture, and image. And to me, the most important thing is to find someone who could best represent it in an outfit or costume no matter your origins – this is what we learn from beauty pageants – inclusion, tolerance, unity! So yes a Filipino designer has made my national costume.

Angele also became the first Miss Universe Cameroon. Meanwhile, she will represent her country as it debuts in the pageant.

Aside from Kennedy, other Filipinos also worked with Angele for the pageant. They, on the other hand, designed her gowns and mentored her. She invited people to tune into the pageant “to learn who they will become.”

There’s a big love story between the Philippines, Filipino fans, and I and that is since 2017. Be aware my gowns as well are made by Filipino – I have been trained and mentored by Filipino too.

Meanwhile, Rabiya Mateo will present the works of Filipinos nationwide. Over 100 designer outfits brought in Florida for her Miss Universe Campaign. The 69th Miss Universe pageant airs on May 16 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
