The most famous celebrity cameos on F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is considered to be one of the most-loved sitcoms of all time. It was also awarded multiple Emmys which proves that it was an all-time classic, to begin with. This explored the lives of six characters living in New York as they cherished love, new experiences, and each other. But this did not only focus on them but also on celebrity cameos too. Some of them we’re sure that we have caught our eye on before.

The most famous celebrity cameos on F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Julia Roberts and Jean Claude Van Damme (Season 2, The One After the Superbowl: Part 2)

Celebrity Cameos

During this episode, there was a double celebrity cameo. Both Julia Roberts and Jean Claude Van Damme appeared as supporting characters. Roberts played Susie Moss, Chandler’s former classmate which he used to make fun of. The two met again after years and while Chandler was unaware of her real intention, Susie was able to get her revenge. On the other hand, Van Damme played himself while on the set of a shoot. He then became the reason for a petty fight between Rachel and Monica as both were eyeing him.

Ben Stiller (Season 3, The One with the Screamer)

In this one, Ben Stiller appeared on one episode as Rachel’s date named Tommy. But Ross really had more interactions with him. Ross saw that Tommy is not suitable for Rachel because of his actions. He tends to scream at every inconvenience he experiences. Ross tried to want everyone but he appeared to be petty since he and Rachel just broke up. In the end, they actually saw Tom’s true nature as he exudes rage toward the chick in the guys’ apartment.

Hugh Laurie (Season 4, The One with Ross’s Wedding: Part 2)

Well, it’s Dr. House himself! He appeared in an episode where Rachel went all the way to London to tell Ross how she feels. While on the plane, she sat next to Laurie’s character. Rachel being Rachel disturbed Laurie and went on to tell the story behind her journey. The two got into an argument with him disagreeing with her act since Ross was ready to get married to Emily. This was really hilarious as it showed that while this cameo was short, it was one of the most remembered.

Gary Oldman (Season 7, The One with Monica and Chandler’s Wedding: Part 1)

Even before Gary Oldman portrayed Sirius Black, he had already established his name in Hollywood. From being Dracula and Sid Vicious on the big screen, he went on a cameo on the show as an actor alongside Joey. They worked together as soldiers on a film about World War I. Who wouldn’t forget his enunciation of lines with Joey as they spat on each other?

Brad Pitt (Season 8, The One with the Rumor)

During this episode, Brad Pitt appeared as Will Colbert, Ross’s high school friend. It was then revealed that both of them were co-founders of a club that hates Rachel. It was named “I Hate Rachel Green Club” for a reason. Also revealing that the club conspired on spreading a rumor. Do note that the two of them are the only members of the club. According to the rumor, it was said that Rachel was Hermaphroditic (a person who has both male and female reproductive organs). On one note, Phoebe and Chandler were mostly unbothered as they pretended to watch football to avoid doing chores. This Thanksgiving episode turned out to be one of the best episodes in the whole series.

Dakota Fanning (Season 10, The One With Princess Consuela)

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Cameo

As a child star, Dakota Fanning appeared in many shows and motion pictures. During the last season of the series, she played a character of an unusual child named Mackenzie. She formerly lived in a house that Chandler and Monica were planning on buying for themselves. Mackenzie then had an interaction with Joey as they both had frustrations about their family and friends’ decision on moving. They bonded as they both wanted the same thing, for everything to stay the same.

Jennifer Coolidge (Season 10, The One with Ross’s Tan)

The icon herself Jennifer Coolidge appeared in a cameo during the tenth season. She played the character of Amanda Buffamonteezi, Monica and Phoebe’s former roommate. She seemed to be phony as she acquired a fake British accent to show that she has come a long way from the two. Also, who couldn’t unsee her amusing dance as she boasts that she never had any kind of training?

Danny DeVito (Season 10, The One Where the Stripper Cries)

This one was really unexpected for Danny Devito to portray. He went on to be a stripper for Phoebe’s bachelorette party and it was not in the expectation of them as well as the guests. While they were not able to hide what they felt, it led to him breaking down. But in the end, he still got to do his long-time passion, to give them all a show.

Reese Witherspoon and Christina Applegate

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Cameo

Reese Witherspoon surprised everyone with her role as Rachel’s sister, with Christina Applegate being the “other” one. Witherspoon appeared on Season 6 while Applegate on Seasons 9 and 10, respectively. Both of them had characters that made people around them feel uncomfortable. Nonetheless, each of their cameos were memorable as their characters were the complete opposite of their real-life personalities. Applegate even won an Emmy for guest-starring in the show.

Bruce Willis

After his debut as John Mcclane, Bruce Willis guest-starred in the show as the father of Ross’ student/girlfriend. Yeah. His student. But that’s another topic. Willis portrayed Paul Stevens, a single dad who eventually became Rachel’s partner, but only for a short period of time. His cameo on the show is full of tension and awkwardness with Ross, which was totally reasonable. This performance was unexpected as it was rooted in a bet between Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis. Eventually, Willis lost it, but hey, he won an Emmy for it so it was a winning situation for him.

Paul Rudd

During the last two seasons, Paul Rudd was introduced as Mike Hannigan. He met the group because of Joey’s funny story and then on became Phoebe’s love interest. We can’t deny that Mike and Phoebe’s chemistry is one of the show’s best relationships. With his character’s personality, he truly deserved to be a part of the main ensemble.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Cameo

This incredible line-up of cameos solidified the status of the show as a classic. As it ran for ten seasons, there was never a dull moment. If you ever felt the mood to rewatch, do note that it is still currently streaming on Netflix.
