VP/Fashion | PIORE: Bridging European Inspiration with Filipino Artistry

In the whirlwind of trends and fleeting styles, PIORE stands as a refreshing reminder of the beauty that appears when cultural heritage meets contemporary design. Founded in 2022 by Franco Piore, this fashion brand seamlessly blends the elegance of European designs with the rich Filipino craftsmanship. Creating a collection that’s not only mesmerizing but also tells a story of cultural and community pride.

Franco Piore views fashion as an art form and a means of expression. In establishing this brand, he took a lot of inspiration from his personal taste in fashion—fantasies of the ‘High European lifestyle’ and admiration for quality Italian-made goods. Moreover, PIORE set out to establish a brand that combines luxurious aesthetics with artisanal traditions found locally.

One of their most beloved products, the Lady Margareth Bag, exemplifies PIORE’s dedication to quality and heritage. Franco describes it as evoking stability and elegance, much like its namesake, the “Iron Lady” Margareth Thatcher. With its brass metal handle and straightforward design on the back, crafted from high-quality leather with a natural tanning finish, this bag will give you a lux feel.

The unique touch of Euro-inspired designs already distinguishes this brand from others. But at the heart of PIORE lies a commitment to source materials locally, support local communities, and reduce carbon impact. Moreover, PIORE emphasizes the quality of the products they produce.

“Quality is paramount for our brand, so we ensure that we select premium materials that align with our brand’s identity and values.”

Stitching the Path to Success in Style

Putting up a business is no easy venture; it takes a lot of preparation, investment, and inspiration. For PIORE, personal experiences take the wheel in this endeavor. He weaves his identity and life lessons into every fabric he designs. His ideas revolve around the socio-cultural, economic, and political lens of the brand. Moreover, a major part of his projects draws deeply from the literary works he has read and adored.

“There is no perfect time to start, and the identity of a clothing brand is not set in stone. It surprises me that having a brand and its identity are ever-evolving and growing. It is fascinating how it grows organically no matter how many calculated variables you have put in.”

Franco Piore on what has been the most surprising aspect of starting a brand.

Before launching PIORE, Franco was deeply involved in social enterprises around the country. An experience that instilled a strong commitment to sustainability and community support. Through this, he was able to discover the talent of local artisans, which sparked his mission to bring and showcase their skills to the world. At the core of PIORE’s mandate is a dedication to prioritizing the skills and welfare of local artisans.

Empowering local artisans

PIORE goes beyond fashion; it’s a vehicle for social impact. This commitment is evident in their collaborative approach with artisans, where mutual learning enriches both design execution and cultural appreciation.

One of PIORE’s artisans, a seamstress and single mother juggling two jobs, resonates personally with the founder, who grew up in a similar household. Despite challenges such as limited proper training in design execution, PIORE emphasizes open communication and mutual learning with their artisans.

The brand values both traditional artisanal techniques and cultural practices alongside modern methods. For them, collaboration leads to better understanding of traditional craftsmanship that resonates with the designs at PIORE.

Looking Forward

In reflecting on his journey, Piore emphasizes that fashion should celebrate the artistry and dedication of those who bring designs to life. He highlights, “I’m always in love with the Artist, and forever will be.” As PIORE continues to grow, Franco Piore is excited about future initiatives. The brand is set to introduce new capsule pieces that embrace dynamic lifestyles and preferences.

“This generation stands at the crossroads of fashion trends, revolution, and the social media market, and we aim to provide them with thoughtful guidance.”
