The Umbrella Academy Cast Announces Season 2 ala #StayAtHome

First aired on February 15th, 2019, The Umbrella Academy arguably became the most talked about comic book TV series of the year. Streamed by over 45 million viewers in its first month, the 10-episode hit became Netflix’s 3rd most watch show for 2019.

The series is based on the Dark Horse Comics graphic novel of the same name. The story revolves around 7 children gifted with extraordinary powers. They were also born on the same day and at the same time. A billionaire named Reginald Hargreeves then adopts all 7 of them due to their skills, and raises them as a young superhero team called The Umbrella Academy. Well, except for the 7th child because she shows no signs of having powers. She grows up thinking she’s normal, while staying at home all the time. Little do they know that this was only the start of their problems.

The story then fast forwards to the present time — years after the children’s crime fighting days are over. The estranged Hargreeves find their way to back to their old home. To grieve their’ father’s death — just to be shaken up again as trouble ensues.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2

After more than a year since the first season aired, The Umbrella Academy will finally be back. Save the date: it’s July 31st, 2020.

The official announcement for season 2’s release date has made a stir online. How the news was actually released is what’s making the real noise. One scene from the first episode of season one shows the remaining 5 Hargreeves children dancing to Tiffany‘s I Think We’re Alone Now. It was an iconic scene because it stood out from the rest of the episode (and the entire season). Despite facing their inner turmoil, their dysfunctional upbringing, and their adoptive stern father’s recent death, the Hargreeves children still show they’re family.

For the date announcement, all 7 main cast members showed off their moves yet again for this epic homage. It definitely helps hype up The Umbrella Academy‘s new season.

There hasn’t been any further info about The Umbrella Academy season 2’s plot yet. But we’re betting there’ll be more time/inter-dimensional travel – seeing as how the first season ended. The only way to find out if the Hargreeves children make it out alive (barely alive and not even alive for 2 of them) is to wait until it finally airs 2 months from now.
