Looking lusciously vibrant, Angelica’s costume takes inspiration from one of the country’s national identities — The Anahaw.

Designed by Malayka Yamas, the costume features emerald details resembling an Anahaw leaf that drapes over Angelica’s physique.

According to the designer, the leaves are described as, “a large, round outline and its glossy green qualities. It spreads out grandly from the center of the shaft and opens to a full crest divided shallowly at the ends”

Furthermore, the seamless yet elegant structure of this masterpiece effectively conveys the couture’s touch.

As the Philippines’ national leaf, the costume aims to evoke resourcefulness and ingenuity which is what the anahaw symbolizes. Moreover, it also represents the strength, achievements, and loyalty of the Filipinos.

A multifaceted plant, the anahaw is often used both as decorations and utensils. From fans to plates, to even wrappers and roofing materials, the role of the anahaw is significant to many of our countrymen.

Indeed a beautiful costume that is quite fitting to the pageant’s goal of promoting tourism through each country’s culture. This definitely helps Angelica in standing out.

The 25th edition of Miss Tourism International will be taking place on November 27 in Kuching, Malaysia. Angelica is vying to win our 6th MIT crown,

Good luck and continue making us proud, Angelica!
