Getting a haircut? Consider hair donation!

Most of us love making a new year’s resolution every time we welcome a new year. You might want to travel more, learn a new hobby, or change your style. This may include cutting off your hair for a new look to wear at the beginning of 2023. With that, you may consider doing a hair donation for cancer patients and other people who have medical conditions.

Take a look at some organizations where you can make your new look gives new hope!

Hair For Hope

Hair For Hope is advocacy by HEADS Volu-Med, and the European Hair Factory, Inc. It is in a partnership to provide free wigs to health centers including Makati Medical Center.

Should you wish to donate your hair, you have two option. You may either have your hair cut at home or at your favorite salon and have it shipped using a courier, or you may go directly to HEADS Volu-Med salon for hair donation. The latter option will have a service fee of PHP 400.00.

If you prefer to have it cut personally, you may send it to HEADS Volu-Med Salon, G/F Unit 133 Shangri-La Hotel Makati, Ayala Avenue cor. Makati Avenue, Makati City. Just make sure the donated hair is tied or braided, at least 12 inches long, and sealed in a plastic bag. Your name, email address, and social network accounts must also be labeled in your donation. For further information and inquiries, you may reach out to their official Facebook page

Kythe-Ateneo

Kythe-Ateneo strives to offer psychosocial assistance to children with chronic diseases and their families. One of their initiatives is Hair2Share & Wigs2Give (H2S & W2G), which collects donated hair to provide patients with free medical wigs.

They accept curly, wavy, rebonded, bleached, and/or treated hair. Your hair donation needs to be clean, dry and tied in a ponytail (braiding is optional but is highly encouraged to keep the hair strands in place throughout the shipping.) The hair should also be at least 12 inches long and properly sealed in a plastic bag. Also put a label in your donation including your name, email address, and contact number, and write “Kythe-Ateneo” on it.

After making sure that your cut hair is ready for donation, you may send it using your trusted courier. Send it to The European Hair Factory, Block 1 Lot 9 Southpoint Subdivision Brgy. Banay-Banay, Cabuyao, Laguna. They are also responsive on their official Facebook page if you have further questions!
