Dips – In Queso Emergency, Eat Cheese

Cheese, in general, is a kind of food you can eat as it is, turn into a garnish, or make a whole dish out of it. It is a dairy product with different types and a vast range of flavors, textures, and forms. And as a Filipino who loves samgyeopsal, the cheese sauce in Korean restaurants here in the country is a must for me. Let me share different cheese dips that you could make at home!

Cheese Dips to Make at Home

Spinach Dip

This kind of dip is a mixture of cooked spinach and cheese of your choice. Spinach dip is great for pizzas and slices of baguette. Or anything you want to pair with it. You would need spinach, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese. Other ingredients like garlic, sour cream, and cream cheese are also required.

First, cook your spinach in a bit of oil and grated garlic. Once cooked, drain every water content and place it in a bowl. Next, add your grated cheeses, as well as your liquid ingredients. Mix everything and transfer it into a microwavable container. Add a layer of grated cheese before putting it in the oven. Bake, and eat up!

Basic Cheese Sauce

This basic dip is the cheese sauce you can find similar to the cheese sauces in a samgyeopsal restaurant. It is light and smooth and goes well with almost everything. Unlike the spinach dip with veggies, it has no particular component.

This dip only needs milk to be mixed in your roux (flour cooked in melted butter), and then add your grated cheddar, queso de bola, or any cheese you prefer. When it gets thick, don’t worry. Just add more milk until you reach your desired consistency. Pair it with Korean barbeque, fry some tortilla chips, and dunk it in!

Bleu Cheese Dip

This type of cheese dip is perfect when you have buffalo wings with you. It is very creamy and light and can also go well with nachos or spicy chips. You can even use it as a dressing for your salad with carrots, cucumber, and tomatoes.

It would be best if you had bleu cheese (substitute with Feta or Goat Cheese if unavailable), mayonnaise, sour cream, white vinegar, and garlic to make this. Yes, only those five ingredients, and you only have to mix them all until everything is fully incorporated. Have it served right ahead, or you can chill it a little for better consistency and taste.

Cheese hits different every time it lands on our taste buds. It simply makes its way to our hearts and melts them with creamy goodness. They say you can’t go wrong with anything that has cheese in it. So how about you? What food are you dunking in these cheese dips?
