Meet some of the hopefuls for Miss Universe Philippines 2022

Philippines, it’s that time of the year again. The road towards the most anticipated national pageant in the country has officially begun. Miss Universe Philippines 2022 is now in full swing as they recently concluded their online applications for this year’s batch.

As part of the screening process, aspiring candidates got to introduce themselves via the live streaming site KUMU. Because of this, fans were greeted by a slew of new and familiar faces.

While official candidates are yet to be announced, these are some of the phenomenal women competing for a spot in the competition.

The Returnees

Aiming for another chance at the crown, three previous MUPH candidates are making a big comeback.

First, Jedidah Korinihona returns from last year with the hopes of representing her province of Davao Del Sur once again. Then there’s Cebu’s Lou Piczon, who made the Top 16 in 2020 and is back for a second go. Finally, Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 third runner-up, kept her promise and aims to win this time.

The Fresh Beauties

Although this is their first entry into the national pageant arena, these girls should not be underestimated.

Just like Ayn Bernos, another TikTok star is ready to conquer and inspire the universe. With 1.7 million followers, Isabel Luche of Mandaue City wants to uplift others to be beautiful in their own way.

Advocating for the less fortunate, Danielle Camcam from San Juan might not ring a bell, but her sister just might. Danielle is the youngest sibling of actress, singer, and Reina Hispanoamericana 2021 third runner-up Emmanuelle Vera.

Chantal Schmidt is a law student attempting a back-to-back victory for Cebu City. She is also a model who works under the same agency as current titleholder Beatrice Gomez.

The Crossovers

Starting with the national level, both Jona Sweet and Zeneth Khan competed in Miss Philippines Earth where the former was a runner-up while the latter was a semifinalist. After her exclusion at Bb. Pilipinas 2019, fan-favorite Julia Saubier hops on over, giving pageants a final hurrah.

Last but certainly not least, the following has an experience of competing at an international pageant. However, these queens are taking a big risk at claiming a far bigger crown.

Miss World Philippines 2019 sisters Katrina Llegado and Michelle Dee are competing against each other, yet again. Katrina was fifth runner-up at Reina Hispanoamericana 2019, while Michelle was a Top 12 semifinalist at Miss World 2019.

Drawing flak from her performance at Miss Earth 2018, Celeste Cortesi is now more determined to change that. Once her waterloo, Celeste has been training very hard to improve her communication skills.

Who will make it into the final list? We just have to wait and see but for now, good luck to all the ladies!
