7 Ways to Use Apples in Healthy Drinks

Apples are versatile fruits. You can cook with them, bake with them – you can even preserve them. The fruit runs the entire gamut of flavors: from savory to sweet, crunchy to soft – there are so many things you can do with an apple.

Today, it’s all about smoothies and juice. Apples can be a base ingredient in many healthy juices and drinks because of two reasons: one, you can literally buy them anywhere for cheap, and two, their sweet flavor elevates any juice it’s added to.

Juices

Drinking juice allows our body to quickly absorb the high nutritional content of fruits and vegetables. You can eat as many vegetables as you can in just one sitting by drinking them in juice form. That’s why for any of the recipes below, you’ll need some dependable hardware. Do your research on a juicer that fits right into your lifestyle. To make these apple drinks, add the vegetables and fruits to your juicer and consume them immediately. You can add ice cubes to enjoy them cold.

Think green

Romaine lettuce is high in vitamins A, K, and C as well as the minerals potassium, manganese, and molybdenum. This juice contributes to your eye and skin health as well as your cardiovascular system. The apple adds sweetness to this juice.

GREENS 2 INGREDIENTS (makes 1-2 servings)

  1. 1 Fuji apple
  2. 2 or 3 kale leaves (to taste)
  3. Large handful of spinach
  4. 1 head romaine
  5. 2 celery stalks
  6. 1 large or 2 small cucumbers
  7. 1 small bunch of fresh parsley
  8. 1/2 lemon, peeled

Craving citrus

Pineapples have a special enzyme called bromelain that is integral in digestion and energy production. It reduces inflammation and excessive blood coagulation. This summery drink is perfect for people who want their juice to pack an extra punch!

CITRUS 2 INGREDIENTS (makes 1 to 2 servings)

  1. 1 green apple
  2. 1/2 pineapple, skin removed
  3. 1 lemon, peeled
  4. 4 to 5 sprigs of fresh mint, to taste

Sweet and refreshing (Apple, pear, melon, grapes, mint)

Melons are high in carotenoid content, which converts to vitamin A. It’s good for eye and reproductive health. Grapes, meanwhile, are low-glycemic fruit, which means they have low sugar and are rich in resveratrol, an anti-inflammatory nutrient. Try out this amazing recipe and drink this fruit salad through a straw!

APPLE, PEAR, MELON, GRAPES, MINT (makes 8 to 10 servings)

  1. 2 Fuji apples
  2. 1 pear
  3. 1 cantaloupe or honeydew melon, rind removed
  4. A handful of red grapes
  5. A small handful of fresh mint leaves

Smoothies

Drinking smoothies is a great way to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. It also increases your fiber intake and helps you get your daily vitamins and minerals in a delicious way. As long as you have a trustworthy blender. you can make any smoothie in a jiffy.

Apples are our star ingredients for the recipes below. Simply combine all of the ingredients in a blender and process for 1 to 2 minutes. Enjoy cold by adding a handful of ice cubes after or during the processing.

Peanut butter is a protein-packed spread and a good source of omega-6 acid. Check the back of your peanut butter’s label to check its complete nutritional value as it varies per product. APPLE PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS (makes 1 serving)

  1. 1 small apple, chopped
  2. 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
  3. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  4. 2 tsp honey (optional)
  5. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  6. ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Everyday summer

This apple strawberry smoothie is the perfect way to experience summer whenever you want! Strawberries are rich in fiber and antioxidants Its sweet and tangy flavors are a great alternative to ice cream and its arecipe you add to enjoy a hot afternoon merienda.

APPLE STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE (makes 2 servings)

  1. 1 apple (cored and peeled)
  2. 1 cup of frozen/fresh strawberries
  3. 1/2 cup of preferred milk
  4. 1/2 cup yogurt (strawberry, vanilla, banana, or plain)
  5. 2 tsp of honey

Carrots and apples are a great combo if you’re looking to up your fiber content. This smoothie has a tropical taste thanks to the creamy coconut milk. The spices complete the smoothie’s overall taste and look.

CARROT APPLE SMOOTHIE (makes 2 servings)

  1. 1 large Honeycrisp apple (cored and peeled)
  2. 2 large carrots, sliced (around 1 1/2 cups)
  3. 1 medium ripe banana
  4. 1 cup light coconut milk
  5. 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  6. 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  7. 2 teaspoons minced fresh turmeric or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric

Back to basics

This apple drink is a must-try! Apples and bananas are always paired together because their flavors complement each other. Bananas are rich in potassium and vitamins B6, C, and A. Adding this smoothie to your pre-workout routine or before heading to work is sure to give your body the energy boost it needs every day.

APPLE BANANA SMOOTHIE (makes 1 serving)

  1. 1/2 medium apple
  2. 1 small ripe banana (cut and frozen overnight)
  3. 1/4 cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt
  4. 1 tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter
  5. 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  6. 1/2 teaspoon of spice (cinnamon, chai spice, pumpkin pie spice, or apple pie spice)
  7. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
