The End of an Era: Miss Intercontinental under Binibining Pilipinas
Despite of their seemingly strong partnership, both Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. and Miss Intercontinental have bid their farewells. Welcoming the pageant in 2014, BPCI has served as the pageant’s local franchise holder for almost nine years.
A legacy which resulted with a successful turnout, the Philippines currently holds the longest placement streak at Miss Intercontinental. Certainly an impressive feat, it boasts two winners, three runners-up, and three semifinalists.
Now under Mutya ng Pilipinas, this year’s representative, Iona Violeta Abrera Gibbs is under pressure to keep up our unbeatable run alive. Having big shoes to fill, here’s a reminder of what she has to defend.

Miss Intercontinental is scheduled to take place in the later part of the year. Therefore, this gives Iona the ample time she needs to prepare. With the pageant’s transition under a new owner is currently underway, it’s definitely interesting to see how she’ll fair under this type of circumstances.
