Kristeen Mae Boccang is the newest candidate for Miss Universe Philippines 2023
It’s official! Kristeen Mae Boccang will be joining the roster of candidates for Miss Universe Philippines 2023. The 23-year-old Psychology graduate from Connor, Apayao will be replacing Evangeline Fuentes who had to withdraw due to health reasons.

On Monday, February 27, through her spokesperson, Evangeline issued a statement explaining her exit from the competition.
Just a few hours later, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced Kristeen as her replacement through a social media post. The caption reads:
“Welcome to the Top 40, Kristeen Mae Boccang! In light of the withdrawal of Ms. Evangeline Fuentes (Pangasinan) due to health reasons, Kristeen will be representing the beautiful province of Apayao for Miss Universe Philippines 2023! We wish you all the best, Evangeline, and congratulations, Kristeen!”
Initially screening for another national pageant, Kristeen’s redirection is definitely a pleasant suprise. As the saying goes, “When One Door Closes Another Opens”. In representing the Cordilleran province, Kristeen is an advocate for both Mental Health and Environmental Preservation.
