Despite their long hiatus on-screen, the phenomenal love team KathNiel still remains as everyone’s cup of tea. In fact, they are the newest face of the country’s leading online payment app, Paymaya.
On February 5, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla starred in an action-packed project for Paymaya’s latest campaign “Balikbayad”, showing the benefits of earning cashback and advantages when using the app.
In the TVC, the young celebrities fiercely use the power of the mobile app to tackle the hassle everyday cash transactions such as paying bills, buying load, grocery and online shopping, among many others. The video, which is set in a typical 90’s action movie, also features the ultimate “Pinoy Kontrabida” Rez Cortez as its antagonist with a catchy jingle in the tune of Eraserheads’ song “Ligaya.”

What more important is Paymaya will give you a cashback up to 100% every time you pay through the app. Literally, it is a “Balikbayad” transaction. With this, you can now shop online, transfer money, buy movie/event tickets, purchase game points, stream music, and buying load via QR scan.
In fact, the Paymaya has also expanded its partner merchants which would give additional cashback to users who scan to pay with this app. Among the partners included are Landers Superstore, Mercury Drug, KFC, Robinson’s Department Store, Total Alabang and Valenzuela, and Toys ‘R Us.
KathNiel returns as action stars
The TVC marks as the much-awaited comeback of KathNiel in a project. Their last project was La Luna Sangre in 2018.
According to Mark Jason Dee, head of Growth and Marketing of Paymaya, Kathryn and Daniel represent the exciting and energetic lifestyle of most of Paymaya’s users. “We’re very excited to have Kathniel representing the ‘Balikbayad’ campaign, because just as these two big celebrity icons have made a comeback for Paymaya this year, our users can also expect something to come back – in the form of cashback – every time they use Paymaya instead of cash.”
The ‘Balikbayad’ campaign is the first action-packed project of the popular love team. As the new face of Paymaya, users can use the code PAYMAYAKATHNIEL upon signing up to get an instant reward apart from the cashback.
For Kathryn, the app is very helpful to her especially as an actress who doesn’t have enough time to do shopping. “I use mine (for) online shopping, pag ako naiistress ako tini-treat ko sarili ko with online shopping. It’s very convenient in just seconds lalo sa’kin na ‘di nakakalabas, nakakapagmall, napaka convenient sa’kin nito,” Kathryn said in the launching of Balikbayad campaign at the Ortigas Cinemas in Estancia Mall.
Meanwhile, Daniel claims the app will also benefit the students and the public’s safety. Since the app no longer need a cash to pay, all you have to do is present your Paymaya app at the cashier. “The app, I think is very millennial, so ‘yung oras mo instead na lumabas ka, hindi ka na kailangang pumila, ilang oras din ‘yon,” he adds.
