5th VP Choice Awards: SB19 and BGYO Clinch Awards in the Music and Radio Category
With the theme “Celestial Radiance: A Night of Luminous Elegance,” VP Choice Awards eagerly awaits another enchanting evening, complete with a star-studded guest list and a glamorous red carpet, all made possible by the nominations of renowned names and brands by the public. Moreover, the event will be giving a total 110 awards for this year’s event, recognizing excellence across many industries.
Meanwhile, to determine the winners, the Pipol themselves and the panel of judges for the 5th VP Choice Awards—namely Maita Martinez, Lady Agua, Dr. Darwin Ferrolino, Jay Vincent Mateo, Peter Jan Icogo, Caz Edmunds, and Patrick Cabusay— played significant roles. The award-giving body produced by Red Entertainment and Village Pipol Magazine employed the following voting criteria in naming this year’s awardees:

On May 21, Village Pipol unveiled the full VPCA results in this year’s event. Under the Entertainment Category, P-Pop powerhouses SB19 and BGYO clinched their respective awards in the Music and Radio category, honoring their deep passion for their artistry.
SB19 Shine Bright at the 5th VPCA
SB19, comprised of Pablo, Stell, Ken, Josh, and Justin, has left a profound mark not just within the Philippines but also globally with their music. Their talent and determination lit a fire in their fans, A’TIN, who’ve been their biggest cheerleaders ever since.
Of course, who could resist the charm of a tune featuring an energetic melody and impactful lyrics? Their song ‘GENTO’ secured two major awards under the Entertainment category: the Ppop Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year. Pablo from SB19 mentioned that ‘GENTO’ encapsulates what the group has to offer and represents their journey to success.
Additionally, three members garnered awards. John Paulo Nase, also known as Pablo, won the Composer of the Year award. Josh Cullen received recognition as the Online Streamer of the Year, while Felip (Ken) earned the Fashion Influencer Hall of Famer award.
Their music carries a powerful message, drawing from personal experiences that resonate deeply with their audience, creating a bond with listeners who appreciate the authenticity behind each melody.
In addition to ‘Gento,’ the nominees for P-Pop Song of the Year included Kaya by Kaia, Bulalakaw by BGYO, Tsada Mahigugma by MayMay, Sandal by VXON, and Dagundong by ALAMAT.
Furthermore, the Music Video of the Year category also featured nominations, including Dagundong by ALAMAT, Tsada Mahigugma by MayMay, Sandal by VXON, ERE by Juan Karlos, and B.A.D. by Denise Julia feat. P-Lo.
BGYO as Group Performer of the Year at 5th VP Choice Awards
Comprising Akira, Gelo, JL, Mikki, and Nate, BGYO has made its mark in the music industry as one of the P-Pop groups renowned for their dedication and hard work in honing their craft.
In this year’s VPCA, BGYO secured their second Group Performer of the Year award presented by the BingoPlus Foundation. They emerged victorious over five other P-Pop groups, securing the highest number of votes from both the public and the judges, triumphing over MNL48, BINI, SB19, VXON, and ALAMAT.
BGYO was established via the Star Hunt Academy and underwent a rigorous two-year training period before making their debut in 2021. They gained prominence with tracks like “The Baddest,” “Magnet,” and “Tumitigil ang Mundo.”
The VP Choice Awards consistently makes a significant impact on people, and these P-Pop aces showcase that the music they produce carries potent messages drawn from personal experiences, connecting profoundly with their audience.
