Who’ll be this year’s Miss Universe Philippines?

Last Friday, February 14, the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) presented 52 beautiful, empowered Filipinas as this year’s official candidates at the Manila Hotel. All of them wore modern interpretations of Filipiniana attire by the country’s best fashion designers, showcasing local textiles and garments.

As the MUP National Director, Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup is determined to produce our 5th Filipina Miss Universe who will continue the legacies of Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray. “We will try our very best to produce a Miss Universe Philippines candidate who can really represent our country and be able to showcase what we have.” 

Moreover, Shamcey, of course, expressed her excitement for the upcoming coronation night.

“I’m honored that we were able to find amazing women from all around the Philippines to take part in this journey. I’m amazed kasi I saw some of them during the screening and parang ngayon pa lang may transformation na. What more after the two months of preparation for the ultimate pageant?” she added.

The coronation night will be on May 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This, in fact, marks the end of an era as Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. let go of the MUP franchise after more than 50 years.
