The world’s oldest existing international beauty pageant will be crowning its newest queen in the middle east! For the first time in its 71-year history, Miss World will be staging its global competition in the United Arab Emirates.

On Monday, February 13, Miss World Limited through its chairman Julia Morley made the announcement. The caption reads: “I am delighted to announce the 71st Miss World Festival will be held in…THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.”

Founded and based in London, Miss World welcomes around a hundred candidates annually. Through its “beauty with a purpose” campaign, they helps contestants in raising money for the charities of their choice.

With 82 candidates as of this writing, fans anticipate a significant turnout for the upcoming edition following the announcement. This includes Philippine representative Gwendolyne Bolivar Fourniol.
