The remaining bandmates of the South Korean girl group MOMOLAND informed their fans on Tuesday about their disbandment.

Originally a nine-piece ensemble, MOMOLAND debuted on November 2016 after winning the reality idol survival show, Finding Momoland. In late 2019, however, two members departed and another left in early 2020. Thus, Nancy, Ahin, Jane, JooE, Hyebin, and Nayun, continued the formation.

MOMOLAND is known for catapulting smash hits that became an instant dance craze. Specifically, their songs Bboom Bboom and BAAM attained popularity from the global audience.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, they are widely admired by Filipinos and have visited the country a few times. The sextet even appeared as guests in local television programs such as It’s Showtime, Gandang Gabi Vice, and Tonight With Boy Abunda.

On February 14, timely celebrating Valentine’s Day, MOMOLAND wrote a letter for their supporters. They broke the news of the decision to disband, less than a month since their contract with MLD Entertainment expired.

“We sincerely apologize to our Merries facing the news through an article. After a long, deep discussion, the six of us have decided to support for each other to have a great new beginning going forward,” said the letter posted by the remaining members in their respective accounts.

They continued, “Even though we have decided to take our own paths toward our dreams, MOMOLAND will always be a team.” They further expressed gratitude to their fandom for sharing “precious memories” with them in the past seven years.

The group added, “We are deeply sorry that we couldn’t let you guys know sooner, but (we) sincerely thank everyone that has patiently waited for us.”

MOMOLAND ended the letter by asking for support and love from the fans. It seems that the member plan to focus each on their solo career.

In 2022, MOMOLAND released its last track, Yummy Yummy Love.
