Kid Yambao Is The Man

What makes a man? Oh boy. That’s a tough one. If life came with a manual, maybe it’d be easier to say. But it doesn’t. And it isn’t. We go about our lives blindfolded, hoping to be in the right direction. Going straight could be sideways for some, and moving slow could be too fast for the rest.

So what indeed makes a man? Well, it isn’t sugar, spice, and everything nice. But who’s to say? Maybe we can talk about that some other time. It could also be snips and snails and puppy-dog tails. Although, that doesn’t sound too good either. There should be a formula for this by now.

However, being a man needs more than just random stuff and some Chemical X. Manhood can’t be grown from a test tube in a lab. Manliness doesn’t equate to how much (or less) sugar or table salt or masculinity you add to the equation. Being a man doesn’t mean you have to hide the kid in you. Being a man is accepting everything about yourself, even the kid version of yourself that you repressed so long ago.

Not all kids are the same too, you know. We know a certain ‘Kid’ who knows more than what he’s named after. There are certain men in this world that aren’t man enough for the job. Then there’s Kid Yambao. The man. The dude we can look up to. El hombre we admire. Le homme we just love. 𝘼𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙪𝙥𝙪𝙠𝙖𝙬 𝙨𝙖 𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜…𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨. But in a good way!

KID YAMBAO: THE MAN

Kid Yambao is definitely the personification of a good sport. He’s the chill boy-next-door and the responsible older brother. He has a face where a gorgeous face should be and has a passionate heart right there where hearts normally are. He’s basically a regular guy, doing regular stuff, rocking the most awesome job, and having the time of his life.

What makes Kid special and different from the rest? He’s a man who knows who he is. And he isn’t afraid to show it.

But the question still remains. What makes a man? Well, good thing Kid has an answer for that.

He throws some pretty good points. A man can’t be defined just by what he is or where he’s from. A real man is more than his age, his gender, his heritage, or his place in life. He’s a sum total of all of those, and then some. Although, you get to wonder too. Can a man be defined by what he wears instead? Kid has something bold to say about that as well.

“Diba may kanya-kanya tayong personality and preferences? It’s more of kung paano mo siya dalhin, kung paano mo dalhin ‘yung sarili mo.”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Kid Yambao is the man. We kid you not when we say that Kid is wise beyond his years. Although, it’s easier said than done. However, Kid seems to walk his talk. Even as a celebrity, he tries to be his most genuine self. What we see is what we get, albeit a toned down version.

With all things said, everything just boils down to consistency. A real man should know how to maintain his brevity for years to come. There will be ups, there will be downs. What’s important is how he rides the tide. For Kid Yambao, being a real man means being honest about yourself, being brave about your voice, and being content with who you are.

It sure was an uphill climb to get where he is now. The kid in him would be so proud.

What lies ahead for Kid? Even he doesn’t quite know. And that isn’t wrong either.

What makes a man? From what we’ve talked about, a real man isn’t just a spawn of some calculated guesses and super-heated molecules. His qualities don’t come from a bottle. He isn’t brewed, baked, born, nor bonded either. To be a man, you need to persistently think beyond your own goals, your own wants, your own well-being. To reach that level of awesomeness, you must be someone who’s really true to yourself.

Someone who has to think beyond himself needs to be himself first. That’s what makes a man.
