Why I stan Maine Mendoza so much
It was 2015 when I first saw Maine as Yaya Dub on television. During that time, it is raining hard, the government suspends classes after. As I arrive home, I watch Eat Bulaga with my lolo. Laughter was all around as usual. And oh they got a new segment. On TV, Wally dresses as Lola Nidora for Problem solving. There, the dabarkads are giving advice to queries from netizens and a live audience. Just when I thought that JoWaPao’s advice and banters could not get funnier, Yaya Dub enters with a lipsync. I find her funny and wacky due to her expressions. But in the midst of a wacky face, I saw a beautiful woman. Later on, I found myself fanboying at a strong, smart, and talented millennial.
Maine is socially aware
She may not be that politically vocal in terms of partisan politics but she is never silent on important issues.
Maine Mendoza is an advocate of mental health and women empowerment. In fact, during a Juan for All segment, she politely corrects Joey De Leon when he denied the reality of depression. She also often shows support for causes through her social media to raise awareness.
She writes well too
Real fans of Maine Mendoza know she has a blog entitled “THE PESSIMISTIC OPTIMIST BELLA”. There she writes entries, poems, and updates.
Also, she has a book entitled “Yup, I Am That Girl”. There, she writes all about her life, AlDub era, favorites, and poems. I have memorized all her chapters and info by heart. But I will never forget her poems the most because they are just too good!
And also, did you know that she is the lyricist for her first single, “Imagine You And Me” for her film of the same title? How cool!
Maine is one responsible millennial
She may be an actress, but she never pretends to her fans. I remember when she faces the issue between her and Jake Ejercito, she defends the actor and admits that she and Alden are friends only. This disappoints fans but Maine remains unbothered. She remains faithful to her craft and continues expanding her businesses and ventures.
As of the moment, Maine Mendoza still hosts Eat Bulaga and #MaineGoals. She also is enjoying her relationship with Quezon City 1st District Cong. Arjo Atayde. The AlDub trend is now history, but Maine remains as an inspiration to young people, especially me.
Maine is not just like any celebrity. She is a good role model and the image of her generation: strong, progressive, and real.
