Probably one of the most challenging part of being a student is when exam week is approaching. For some, specifically for college students they usually call it as “hell week”. This is where you praise all the angel and saints just to help you pass with your exams. Of course, your superpowers won’t work if you won’t help yourself at the same time.
I got you some tips for you to ace your exams at school!
Do topic outlines. Before anything else, you have to organize first all the topics you need to study. You can actually do this a week before your exams or before your review week. Organizing and doing outlines helps you to develop strategies not to burden yourself too much familiarizing ideas. This is also a technique for you to easily understand and cut down your ideas into a more comprehensive way. You can also write pointers and post it on your bedroom. Something to read before you go to bed, this is so effective!
Cut down big ideas into smaller pieces. There will always be an instance that every complex topics has lots of underlying ideas. To avoid consuming long time deciphering ideas, you can cut those into pieces to which it will still be comprehensive on your part. Doing this style also teaches you to remember things quickly especially if it requires great memorization skills. For example, technique for terms that needs to be memorized can be substituted by its first letter. However, be careful not to be mentally blocked during your exams!
Study, read and comprehend. This is indeed the most easiest tip for a student to ace his/her exam. Yet, this seems to be the most complicated one. Students today disregards the importance of reading and comprehension not just during exams but even on a simple activity. I know you’ll agree with me that even on simple directions on the exam paper, we seldom disobey those. A simple “no erasure policy” for example becomes so complicated to students.
Be confident. In acing you exams, you need to be confident with all of your answers. This is one of the secret for you to stay composed and motivated. Some students experience “test anxiety”, leading them to feel demotivated and sometimes loss of concentration. To avoid this, you have to make sure that once you entered the room, you are ready and confident to ace that exam!
Trust yourself. Confidence alone won’t work if you don’t have enough trust in yourself. You need to have that trust that you’ll surely can and will ace your exams without doing anything bad.
For some, acing their exam isn’t a big thing as long as they knew they did their best. Topnotch or not, the fact that you trusted yourself enough is already a fact that you aced it. However, it would still be a big achievement for you having the highest grade among the class. So go get that uno, girl!
