Things I’ve Learned This 2022
2022 is about to end. And so far, this year has been the most challenging so far. Unlike the past years, this is the year that I’ve felt the longest, and yet, the shortest. As the year goes up, so is my age. And as the days, weeks, and months passed me by, here are some things that 2022 has taught me.
Enjoy the things you’re passionate about
Discovering your passion is exciting. You are about to add another chapter in your life that will define who you are. It could be music, literature, or simply just discovering a new artist or a new series! Whatever you do, don’t let anyone remove your focus on what is it that you want to do.
Yes, there could be things (or people) that will eventually add to your problems. But always remember, for whom are you doing this? By making the intention and purpose of what you are doing clear to yourself, you will never be shaken by what will happen or what another person will do to you against your passion. Shrug it off, and carry on. (And don’t forget to breathe every once in a while!)
I don’t want to be an adult yet.
But do I have a choice? As I’ve said, as the year goes up, so is my age. Just recently leveling up from my teenage years, it kinda feels hard to accept that some things that I’ve done before, must be changed. We are not getting younger. And it is up to me how I will handle these changes in my life. And most importantly, putting a pin on what’s more important in this phase in my life.
I guess I could start off by investing in the right things. At my age, (I’m in my early 20s, BTW), I should be focusing on how to save and grow my own income. As I grow older, I am now starting to see the things I like, and want to have. Including the things that are important. At this age, I am starting to weigh my needs and my wants. Do I really need that new earphones or should I spend my money on food and clothes? Knowing what are your needs will help you start building your life.
But this is not only about the money. This is also a great way on investing your time and effort in the right persons you want to journey with in life. Do you want to be surrounded by problematic and chaotic people or the people who care deeply for you? Being with the right people will help you focus on what’s more important at this stage in your life.
Don’t let the moment pass you
As someone who lost a special person in their life, either moving away temporarily or permanently, I can’t help but reminisce about every moment you’ve spent with the person who left. Yes, regret is always in the end, but at that time I didn’t know what will happen next. That is why from now on I will try, no, do my best, rather, to spend time with the people I cherish the most, while I still can. Bond with them and tell them how much they mean to me.
2022 has been a series of ups and downs. This is the year I have felt tiresome of being at home most of the time. And amazingly, it felt like I have just been having a rough week.
Maybe it’s a sign to hold on and keep believing that something good will come out of it. As C.S. Lewis wrote, “When things go wrong, you’ll find they usually go on getting worse for some time; but when things once start going right, they go on getting better and better.”
