Jennie Kim, born on January 16, 1996, was only 14 years old when she joined YG. But she has proven to many that she has a lot of potential. She spent six years training to become an idol. Before joining BLACKPINK, she collaborated with other YG artists like BIGBANG’s G-Dragon. No wonder she was called an “Ace” during her trainee days.

Jennie’s ‘Solo’

Jennie’s official solo debut was announced in the middle of October 2018. “Solo” debuted at the top of the Gaon Music Chart and won the triple crown by concurrently dominating the domestic download, streaming, and digital charts. The music video for “Solo” also became the most viewed by a female Korean solo artist on YouTube in a 24-hour period at the time of release.

She also made history in April 2019 when she performed at Coachella as the first Korean solo artist. Kim’s performance was “mind-blowing” and “beautiful,” according to Billboard, which featured it in its list of “The 10 Best Things We Saw at Coachella 2019.”

My fingers will probably become numb from listing the accomplishments of their group. However, BLACKPINK’s sophomore album Born Pink recently landed at the top of the Billboard 200. Becoming the first all-female ensemble to top the all-genre chart since Danity Kane’s Welcome to the Dollhouse debuted at No. 1 on April 5, 2008.

She has earned the moniker “Human Chanel” and “Human Gucci” for her contributions to Blackpink’s fashionable image. Her wardrobe includes niche brands like Marine Serre and Richard Quinn in addition to Gucci and Saint Laurent. After considering her reverberating commercial influence, Chanel selected her as House Ambassador.

When Jennie performed her debut single “Solo,” the hairpins she wore in a five-by-five divider became known as “Jennie’s hairpins” and quickly went viral in South Korea.
