The magic of KathNiel in the eyes of a fanboy
As a Gen Z kid, I was not spared from the KathNiel fever. Truth be told, I am not a fan of love teams back then. I only watch cartoons and superheroes even as a teenager. However, amidst that skepticism for love team, my curiosity comes out.
This must be love
I find myself watching KathNiel since Must Be Love. It was not just the beauty of Kathryn Bernardo. And it was not just the rockstar awesomeness of Daniel Padilla. Whenever Kath and DJ are together, there is this magic that sparks like glitters. They look at each other as if the world is only theirs. Then later on, the teenage me realize I was smiling the whole time I watch them. No wonder, they are still conquering both TV and streaming through 2 Good 2 Be True.
KathNiel Flicks
At first I was thinking they were just another teen romcom. But boy, that was just until I saw them in She’s Dating The Gangster. Who can ever forget that flick? I can relate to Kenji on how angry he was against the world. And when he saw Athena, the world turns a hundred eighty. Life is good again. How I wish I can find a love like that, no? But when the movie ends with that twist, the world was never the same again.
The second movie I love most is Crazy Beautiful You. If SDTG was a kilig fest, Crazy Beautiful You made me cry my eyeballs. As someone who is poor and from a broken family, I see myself in Kiko (Daniel Padilla). His quest to find his place in the world just hits home to me. Another thing, Jackie’s (Kathryn Bernardo) reconciliation with her mother made me cry too since I miss my mom.
KathNiel is my home
Even when I was denying it, KathNiel is a big part of my life.
Their movies are my story. Their series are a part of my younger days. I always watch them with my deceased mom back then.
I may not be in the concerts nor guestings, but their works and life shapes my being. I gain a lot of perspective whenever I watch them. And when I see them, it seems like it’s beautiful to live a life full of love like KathNiel.
As the years go, when I have the time, I will still watch all their movies and series. And when God allows me to cross paths with DJ and Kath, I’ll hug them and say:
“Thank you for telling my stories and for being a big part of the most crucial chapters of my life!”
