Let your emotions out in a healthy way.
Try not to bottle up your negative nor positive emotions. Moreover, if you’re not showy in nature, you can find ways to let those emotions out. You can write it down, talk it out, make art, or anything that you can use as an outlet.
Most of the time, negative emotions affect how a person reacts. In that manner, acknowledge your emotions, let them out without inflicting any toxicities on others. Cry if you must because crying is a natural response to pain, so don’t avoid tearing down because it’s normal. It will not make you less of a human if you show natural emotions.
When in a state of extreme negative emotion, take some time to breathe and shake off.
You don’t have to force yourself in a situation where you don’t feel at ease. As soon as you felt like you’re provoked, allow yourself to leave that certain situation. Sometimes, heightened negative emotions take a toll on our physical health because as I said earlier, they work in coordination. After all, the brain controls what the body can do.
This is to avoid unnecessary outbursts that might hurt other people. As much as you care for the surroundings, care for yourself too by excluding yourself in an unease situation. Find a quiet place to breathe in and organize your thoughts not avoid overwhelming yourself. Letting those emotions out is the key.
Rewatch your favorite movies, listen to your favorite childhood songs.
Sometimes, we may need someone who can hug us and tell us that everything will be alright. And, if someone isn’t there for us, we can use our nostalgia to get in touch with our younger selves and imagine them hugging us. Also, when we rewatch our favorite shows, we can have a much deeper understanding because our mentality changes through various factors.
Furthermore, the feeling of fulfillment helps as we rewatch and listen to our favorites brings a different kind of happiness as if we’re spoiling ourselves.
Eat more healthy foods, keep yourself hydrated, and get enough sleep.
As much as we take care of our mental health, let us not forget to take care of ourselves. Grant yourselves the rest that you deserve after a long week of working and studying. Remember that you matter too, that’s why you need to take good care of the body that you have. During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, try not to catch any sickness. Heighten your immunity by eating healthy, keeping yourself hydrated, and getting enough rest.
Nowadays, going to therapies can be quite expensive. However, you can still care for your mental health using these little yet simple things.
I’m not saying that going to therapies is bad, I want it to be normalized because the professionals can give an appropriate diagnosis and interventions for a person. But, you can still care for your mental health at home. Self-care isn’t selfish- it’s necessary because we all need those outlets and those rests.
