R’Bonney Gabriel’s Miss USA Interview outfit is a nod to her Fil-Am Heritage

Miss USA 2022 is only a day away but we’re feeling quite confident that our Filipina queens will do an amazing job! In case you didn’t know, three contestants of Filipino descent are aiming to win the title. One of them, in particular, is Miss Texas’ R’Bonney Gabriel.

Interesting to note about this beauty is that she is a fashion designer! In fact, she has worn some of her stunning pieces at the pageant, showcasing how good she really is.

As one of the preliminary judgings to determine the Top 16 semifinalists, the closed-door interview is also the most important. It serves as the only time that the judges can get to know each contestant on a personal level.

Hoping to win them over, R’Bonney presented herself in an outfit that isn’t only inventive, but also very special.

“Embracing who I am”

According to her, this outfit aims to “represent Texans, Filipina-Americans, and those who push past self-doubt to reach their greatest potential.”

Designed by R’Bonney, herself, the black one-piece jumpsuit features two important elements. The first one is the white flower pattern on the sleeves which is based on her mother’s wedding dress. The second, a well-known collar shape, pays homage to the customary Maria Clara neckline.

An empowering outfit to boost a confident woman, we’re pretty sure that R’Bonney nailed her interview! With this look along with her irresistible charm, she’s looking every inch of a winner already!

Miss USA highlights gowns by Rian Hernandez

Besides her interview outfit, R’Bonney also wore a Filipino gown at the Miss USA 2022 Preliminary Evening Gown competition.

Her exquisite flowy olive gown is created by well-known designer Rian Hernandez.

Besides R’Bonney, Miss New Mexico and fellow Filipina Suzanne Perez also wore a Rian Hernandez creation.

Looking absolutely golden, her gold dress fits her perfectly. This simply goes to show how Filipinos are truly sought-after designers in the pageant industry.

The coronation night of Miss USA 2023 will be airing tomorrow at 8 AM (PH Time), live from the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. Elle Smith of Kentucky will be crowning her successor at the end of the event and we’re hoping that it will be a Filipina.

Good Luck to R’Bonney, Suzanne as well as to Miss Hawaii Kiana Yamat, our pinay queens! Hoping that history will be made and one of you will get the chance to compete at Miss Universe 2022!
