Ranking Katy Perry’s Nine No. 1 Hits

Katheryn Hudson, more commonly known as Katy Perry, has etched herself as one of the biggest pop stars of all time. Being known as a campy queen, she has showcased her creativity as well as her vocal prowess through her music.

During the course of her career, many of her songs have achieved a No. 1 hit on the Billboard US Charts. A total of nine, to be exact, and with five of them from Teenage Dream. Although technically, Part of Me was later on added to the reissue of the Teenage Dream, The Complete Confection. This record made her the first female artist to achieve this, opposite Michael Jackson with his Bad album.

Katy Perry

It was not easy to rank these hits but we did it for you. With this, find out below which Katy Perry song made it to the number-one spot.

9. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)

On the bottom of the list is Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.). Yes, it was a difficult decision to put this smash hit on this rank. But her other songs really deserve their spots. This song was the one that helped her achieve the record of getting five No. 1 singles from one album. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) really became an anthem for parties, especially Friday night ones.

8. I Kissed a Girl

I Kissed a Girl was Katy Perry’s debut single from her album One of the Boys. This was also her first No. 1 hit on the US charts. Its success paved her way to being one of the main pop girls of the 2010s.

7. Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)

Next on the list is Dark Horse. This being Katy Perry’s 9th No. 1. This hit single really became a dark horse from her album Prism. It wasn’t expected to perform well on the US charts as it debuted at just No. 17 upon its release. Months later, it resurfaced and even reached the No. 1 spot as they were still filming the music video for this song. Also, who wouldn’t forget her controversial performance of this song at the Grammy Awards?

6. Roar

After her record-breaking success with Teenage Dream, she then released the song Roar in 2013. It was released as her lead single from Prism, her third studio album. This song became an empowerment anthem and it surely was one of her biggest hits. This also showed Kitty Purry’s transition from being a kitten to becoming a strong tiger.

5. California Gurls (feat. Snoop Dogg)

On the fifth spot is California Gurls, it is a bubblegum pop that even featured Snoop Dogg. Katy Perry wrote it as a counterpart to Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind. It also served as a love letter for the women of the West Coast. This smash hit was released as her debut single from her record-breaking album Teenage Dream.

4. Part of Me

Part of Me was her lead single from the Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. She didn’t include this song in the original album lineup because it felt different. But later on, she reworked the song and included it on the reissue of the album. This empowerment anthem brings the message of picking yourself up and regaining the courage to own your own narrative. This song even debuted at No. 1 on the US Charts, proving to be a commercial success.

3. E.T. (feat. Kanye West)

Ranking at number 3 is the remix of this hit. It featured Kanye West and became the fourth single from her album Teenage Dream. This was different from Katy Perry’s vibe as it is futuristic, as well as having a mystical hip-hop characteristic. But she really did pull it off perfectly. Plus, the song bridge is iconic as it brings us to a whole other level of transcendence when we listen to it.

2. Teenage Dream

In the second spot is Teenage Dream. We can’t deny that this song is one of the best-written and produced pop songs of all time. Ariana Grande even said so herself in an Instagram post. This song, Katy said revolves around reliving the thrilling and intoxicating sensation of first love. Who wouldn’t relate to the feeling of longing to have our own teenage dream when we were younger?

1. Firework

An all-time classic, on the first spot, is Katy Perry’s Firework. We can hear it playing every New Year’s Eve, as well as the fourth of July in the United States. She considered this to be her favorite song that she has ever written. According to her, Firework is meant to serve as an inspiration to anyone who ever felt meaningless, worthless, and unloved. Adding that everyone is perfect in their own way and is capable of inspiring the world.
