NO MORE BABU: ‘Maria Clara At Ibarra’ comes to Netflix
Fans of the hit historical portal fantasy series Maria Clara At Ibarra (MCI) are on cloud nine as the show premieres on the leading streaming platform Netflix.
Maria Clara At Ibarra is a GMA primetime offering starring Barbie Forteza, Julie Anne San Jose, and Dennis Trillo. It tells the story of a Gen-Z nursing student who will transmigrate inside Jose Rizal’s novels, namely, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
Since the pilot, MCI has continuously earned excellent audience reception. It also received many recognitions, including the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards’ Best Primetime Drama Series of 2023.
Additionally, Forteza and Trillo gained acknowledgment for their performance as lead actors at the 7th GEMS Awards. On the other hand, co-star David Licauco clinched the Best TV Supporting Actor at the recently concluded 4th VP Choice Awards.

On Friday, fans rejoiced as MCI officially premiered on Netflix after almost two months since it concluded on television. All 52 compiled episodes are now available for streaming on the platform.
Meanwhile, Forteza and Licauco took to their respective Twitter pages to celebrate the milestone. “Maria Clara at Ibarra is now officially on Netflix. Wala nang babu!” Forteza said. She played the modern-day Maria Clara or Klay Infantes in MCI.
For his part, Licauco seemed to have stayed true to his character as Fidel and tweeted, “Ang ganda ni Klay.” The statement led many doting admirers to promote once again his love team with Forteza, known as FiLay or BarDa.
To date, the hashtag #MariaClaraAtIbarraOnNetflix remains one of the most trending topics on Philippine Twitter, with over 15,000 tweets.
