Mnet’s ‘Girls Planet 999’ will stream on iQiyi — Tiffany, Sunmi & Jin Goo in 1st Look Magazine Cover
Streaming platform iQiyi on Wednesday said Girls Planet 999 would be available on its service next month. Filipino viewers can then watch the K-pop competition show.
In a statement, iQiyi said Girls Planet 999 would premiere on its platform on August 6 at 7:20 p.m. This happens to be the same date and time that the reality show is scheduled to premiere on its home network, South Korea’s Mnet.
Girls Planet 999 will feature 99 female participants from South Korea, Japan, and China. They will compete for a spot in a 9-member group. The show will be hosted by Hotel del Luna actor Yeo Jin Goo. Also, members of legendary 2nd generation girl groups Sunmi (Wonder Girls) and Tiffany (Girls’ Generation) will mentor the contestants.
Among the reported participants also includes Yujin from the K-pop girl group CLC. Along with Seungeun of Bvndit, and Bora, Jiwon, and May of Cherry Bullet.
Girls Planet 999 is the latest survival program to come out of Mnet. Previously, in 2019, they were embroiled in a scandal involving voting fraud in its previous K-pop competition franchise, Produce 101.
Meanwhile, the “planet masters” Yeo Jin Goo, Tiffany Young, and Sunmi have teamed up with their unique new titles. Then, Jin Goo, Tiffany, and Sunmi have landed on the cover of 1st Look magazine‘s special 10th-anniversary edition. This is in light of Girls Planet 999’s premiere coming up next month,
Viewers can look forward to how well this unlikely team of “planet masters” will lead the trainees of the show. These three will be the heads on the contestants’ rigorous survival journey. Excitingly, alongside various experts from the K-Pop scene.
More of Yeo Jin Goo, Tiffany Young, and Sunmi’s ‘1st Look’ pictorial can be found in the magazine’s upcoming August issue, out this July 22.
Personally, as a fan of Produce 101’s first season and of course, I.O.I, I can’t wait for the premiere of this another seemingly amazing show from Mnet. I just hope that the alleged voting controversy in the other franchise is false, of course.
Fans devote themselves to voting for their favorite contestants. If the shady rumor is true, it will ruin Mnet’s credibility.
