Miss Universe 2022 to be held in New Orleans
The most beautiful day in the universe finally has a date! The 71st Miss Universe competition will be coming to us live from New Orleans, Louisiana on January 14th. Both the Miss Universe Organization and the mayor of the city of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, made the news today.
Welcome to the City of Yes!
In an Instagram post, Cantrell states that New Orleans is honored to serve as the host city for the pageant. Saying that this will only demonstrate the city’s capability in hosting major worldwide events.
Last week, in an interview with Dyan Castillejo, MUO President Paula Shugart began dropping hints. She reveals that it will take place “where people have fun,” further explaining that the location is well-known for its tourism, culture, and cuisine.
The last time Miss Universe took place in the US was in 2021 when Andrea Meza of Mexico won the title.
Miss Universe 2022 is expecting a turnout of around 90 candidates with 67 confirmed as of this writing. This includes our very own Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi.
While no other details were given, it is believed that the finals will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Contestants are expected to arrive around January 5 to 6 with the preliminary competition set to happen on January 11th.
In the finals, India’s Harnaaz Sandhu will be crowning her successor.

As a city and a beach person—when the sun is out—expect Vee to spend hours getting lost in the concrete jungle or laying by the shoreline with both finishing the day by watching a beautiful sunset.
