Filipino actor, host, and singer Leo Consul shares how he started his career in the Philippines. Yet, continue pursuing his dreams in Indonesia. He began his career in hosting ABS-CBN Regional Network Group for local travel shows. However, he stopped for a while for his studies. Then, when he graduated college, he became a teacher in an international school in Indonesia. But it didn’t take so long since his heart was in the entertainment industry.

Achieving his dream didn’t come so easily. He tried auditioning for several shows and even boybands. Until Eat Bulaga Indonesia came and helped me to become a household name in the country. After establishing his name, he receives an offer in acting and portrays the character of a leading man. From then on, different opportunities and projects came into his life. Another television hosting he got is the Indonesian franchise of It’s Showtime. And, the rest is history.

According to Leo, it wasn’t really his plan. But, he believes that it was fate that put him where he is now.
“Pursuing my career here wasn’t really part of my plan. I honestly thought that it was just gonna be a venture of some sort to experience showbiz here but fate took a spin.”
Since then, he has never left the country and decided to stay. He is also beyond grateful for what the industry has done to fulfill his dreams. Moreover, he experiences awesome projects which shape and further develop his skills and talents. However, his journey was not a piece of cake. In fact, he also comes across situations while reaching his dreams. He keeps struggling and asking himself about being a Filipino artist in another country.
“‘Why would we get a Filipino artist when we can just pick some locals to do or play the part?,’ is a recurring voice that plays in my head every time I do auditions.”
Yet, Leo never gave up and become stronger on what life has come to offer.
“But being in the biz for nearly a decade now, that voice has slowly faded into the background. I’ve learned that difficult situations help us become even tougher and more confident in ourselves.”

Moreover, Leo also pursues a career in music. He revealed that his love for it started ever since he was young. He sings in front of his father, who was also his first fan in order to get a coin for school. As he grew older, he finds himself loves songwriting which totally motivates him in doing music until now.

Meanwhile, Leo Consul has been recognized as the Most Beautiful Filipino in 2018. International Professional Entertainment Network (IPEN) awarded him in Toronto, Canada. The award is designed to honor people or groups who made such an impact and difference. According to him, he felt grateful after receiving the recognition.
“Grateful but mostly flattered. I mean recognitions are overwhelming and inspiring for sure but to be awarded as the most beautfiul Filipino?? Don’t get me wrong but “beautiful” is not a word that I’d usually associate myself with but hey, we are all beautiful in our own, unique way, aren’t we?”
Upcoming projects
Meanwhile, Leo stated that he has plans on releasing another music again. He was just waiting for the perfect moment to premiere them. Additionally, the song he was excited about to launch tells the story of everyone can relate to. Especially for those who experience ghosting in their lives.
“I’m very excited about this as it is quite different from the songs that I wrote before. But I believe a lot of people out there could relate to it especially the one that have been ghosted by someone.”
Aside from that, he shared he has upcoming projects in Indonesia which sets to premiere this August 9. He will play a different role far from the previous character he portrays. Yet, he was excited and at the same nervous about the pressure and expectations to him.
Leo Consul left a piece of motivation to his fans and for all aspiring artists.
