David Licauco sings FiLay theme song, “Kailangan Kita”
GMA’s “Maria Clara At Ibarra” is making sure to give fans what they want as it unveils the official theme song for FiLay!
FiLay is the new trending love team composing David Licauco (Fidel) and Barbie Forteza (Klay). In the show, they play two individuals with opposing beliefs, friends to star characters Maria Clara (Julie Ann San Jose) and Crisostomo (Dennis Trillo).
Although they started as enemies, the pairing has attracted many admirers of their chemistry as romance changes the game. In an episode last week, fans witnessed the best FiLay moment yet as Fidel finally professed his feelings for Klay. If that is not enough, David’s character accidentally kissed Barbie on her cheek while bickering!
The scene has just become more special as a romantic Filipino song suddenly plays in the background. GMA News later revealed in a report that the piece would serve as the official soundtrack of FiLay.
In addition, the song is titled “Kailangan Kita,” which translates to “I need you” in English. David Licauco, who surprised the series’ supporters with this reveal, performed the song.
Part of the lyrics went “Kailangan kita dito sa aking mundo, mawawala ang sigla ‘pag wala ka sa tabi ko.” It reflected the budding romance between Fidel and Klay, whose love story remains something the viewers need to anticipate.
“Maria Clara At Ibarra” airs from Monday to Friday on GMA Telebabad at 8 PM. Free streaming is also available via GMA Network’s app. As of writing, the series is yet to release the official audio of “Kailangan Kita” on music platforms.
