Baymax: Mini-Series Review
Baymax is back to continue its mission of being a healthcare companion. From the Big Hero 6: The Series comes the spinoff that focuses on Baymax’s adventures in the fast-paced city of San Fransokyo. These adventures aren’t like the superheroic ones in the animated spinoff but hit a little closer to the heart. It shows us a little perspective of how what an ordinary day is in the lives of its ordinary citizens.
In the series, Baymax encountered people needing help, especially when they said, Aw, just like in the movie. Everyone that he meets, he always guarantees that he satisfies their care. To the extent that he will not leave them alone until they are satisfied. This is where the comedic factor of the miniseries kicks in. As we all know, in his healthcare mode, he always acts carefully in all that he does. Even to a single obstacle in his way, he will move it slowly to the side to clear the barrier in his path. Because Baymax is himself, the ones he usually helps are reluctant for his assistance. They are clearly in need of help but they are stubborn to admit it. But Baymax is always there to help.
Baymax helps everyone, literally everyone. Even other *wink wink* creatures. There isn’t much spoiler to this miniseries. The first season is only six episodes with just around nine minutes each. But these minisodes are full of heartfelt stories that all audiences, both young and old, can enjoy. Another point that is noteworthy is how each episode tackles certain issues that are once taboo in the history of children’s animation. Some of the issues tackled are allergies, phobias, and some major changes in life such as puberty and menstruation, facing phobias, and changes because of what happens in life. The series’ storytelling makes it light, easy to comprehend, informational and heartfelt at the same time.
The show is not only for children. The not-so-young audiences can also get a thing or two from this series. On a deeper aspect of things, it shows how important the health of an individual is and how it should be given attention and worth. The show’s narrative tells this in a powerful way. Yes, working, studying, and basically our day-to-day basis, are essential parts of life. And so is keeping our bodies healthy.
The series highlights the importance of community and being able to be inclusive. When we are capable of helping others, let us do so. We really don’t know what the other person is going through that is why it is important to be kind. As we help someone in the smallest way possible, could create a big impact on their lives. We should also know how to humble ourselves, especially when we need help. as the old saying goes, no man is an island. In a healthy community, they help each other out. and when you help someone, they will also pay back the help you gave them. it may also not be necessary like the way you helped them, but in other ways, in other instruments, and in other means.
Reprising as voice actors are Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Ryan Potter as Hiro, and Scott Adsit as Baymax. The series has a lot of potential for its next season.
