The Top 6 Disney Movies That I Won’t Get Tired Of Watching

It is undeniable that most of us grew up watching Disney movies. Our screens at home were always filled with colorful scenes of palaces, natures, and talking animals! Of course, there are some of these movies that we have already outgrown. However, a few of them still live in our hearts rent-free as an adult. Indeed, that’s the power of Disney movies, isn’t it? To keep the colors, magic, fantasy, hope, light, and most especially, fun, in our lives.

Why I love Disney movies even as a 21-year-old

From Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Mirabel from Encanto, Disney has never failed to make me go back to my childhood. This does not even include Disney Pixar movies yet (that will be a different article, folks), but it is already so difficult to choose my top 6 as I really love Disney movies. Of course, I’ll be honest and admit that there’s also a Disney movie that I’m not a fan of (coughs, Peter Pan, coughs). Furthermore, there’s also the main character that I hate so much to the point that I root for the villain more than the protagonist (yes, it’s you, Ariel).

Additionally, the soundtrack of each Disney movie will make you love them even more. There is no Disney movie yet without an amazing soundtrack. These Disney songs add to the countless reasons why even an adult like me loves the movies. Indeed, from “Someday, my prince will come”, to “The snow never bothers me anyway”, these lines from various Disney songs will always make us sing along!

My Top 6 Disney movies, why I love them, and what I learned from them

Of course, there will always be a few of these many masterpieces that we will choose to watch repeatedly. For me, a 21-year-old, here are the top 6 movies that I’ve picked (and, I really had a hard time choosing just six!):

6. Pocahontas (1995)

As someone who has remained an advocate of taking care of nature and feels concerned about preserving the Earth, Pocahontas instantly became my favorite as soon I watched it. People think that Pocahontas is a boring movie. Especially since it is more on the historical side than the usual princess movies.

However, as this movie has the basis of a real-life historical event, it will teach you a lot of lessons. Especially about the colonization of the English settlers from the Virginia Company. Although the movie received backlash for some historical inaccuracies, it still does not change the fact that Pocahontas is a legendary Disney movie that is unique, full of lessons, and life-changing.

Lessons from the movie:

It will make you realize how important the Earth is, and that no matter how many lands you try and call your own, it will never be yours. The movie highlights the importance of taking care of the Earth since it is not ours. It also opens the eyes of the viewers by embracing other cultures. It made us understand that our kind is not the only kind that exist, and that we should learn to welcome them with open arms and never discriminate against them.

Lastly, Pocahontas taught us to be brave and bold—to fight for what we believe in. Even if it makes you go against a huge crowd or can sometimes line you up for death, Pocahontas made us believe that fighting for what you think is right will always be worth it.

5. Mulan (1998)

There is no classic Disney movie who have empowered women the way Mulan did! Yes, it is usual for the heroines of the movies to be brave and bold during these present times. However, among the classics, we can’t deny that Mulan is the bravest one. She pretended that she was a man and took her father’s place in the army and fought for China against the Huns. She did all of these to save her father who is already too old and too sick to fight for the country. If that ain’t the bravest thing any of the Disney princesses did, I don’t know what else is. With a handful of comedy, a few dramas, and a pinch of romance, Mulan instantly became every girl’s favorite, including me!

Lessons from the movie:

Mulan taught every little girl that you don’t have to be a man to be brave and strong enough to save a country. She taught us that as long as we have the right heart, enough courage, and bravery, we can do whatever we want. Also, we learned that your task as a woman is not to please a man. Instead, you can always strive to be as strong and as brave. Lastly, Mulan taught us to never, ever be just what others are molding us to be—that you can be yourself and whoever you want to be as long as you are strong enough to fight for it.

4. Frozen 2 (2019)

Although romance is not an absent aspect in Frozen 2, it still did not fail in focusing on a more unique kind of love that most of us oversee when watching movies—sisterly love. I think this is one of the many reasons why Frozen, both its first and the second movie, is loved by many audiences around the world. Elsa and Anna show that anything is possible if you work together with love. Along with the help of Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf, the sisters conquer everything together. They overcome every difficulty with their love for each other. Personally, I love Frozen 2 more than the first movie since this includes more action, and a little more information about their family’s history, and it highlights a lot of the distinct characteristics of Elsa and Anna. Indeed, there’s really a reason why Frozen is loved by many, kids and adults alike.

Lessons from the movie:

The most important lesson that I’ve learned from watching Frozen 2 would be anything is possible if you’ve got good support from the people around you. It also signifies how love is a very important aspect of life and it can lead you to do many amazing things. Frozen 2 made us realize that even though there are things that we think we can do by ourselves, we would still need help from others, and to learn to accept this help, as it is another form of love. Lastly, it taught us that no matter how hard things get, we must always do the next right thing without hesitation, no matter how difficult that is.

3. Tangled (2010)

Although a princess with long, long hair is already a cliché movie plot that anyone might’ve already seen a couple of times, Tangled is an exception as the movie is amazingly high quality! It did not just settle in having the guy save the princess out of the tower, but Rapunzel did her best efforts and plucked her tiniest courage to work her way out. Of course, she needed the help of Flynn, but it still does not change the fact that she fought hard for what she wants. She ventured her way out of her tower and her evil mother, which led to her discovering who she is. Comedy, drama, action, and a why-am-I-single amount of romance? Tangled has it all!

Lessons from the movie:

If there’s something that you want, fight for it. Rapunzel has been trapped in her tower all her life her only wish was to see the floating lanterns on her birthday. Little did she know that her small courageous act that day will lead to her life-changing. This is a sign that no matter how fearful you are of what may be, just do it! Never be afraid to fight for what you want to do, for who you want to be, and for who you want to love. After all, life is too short for you to keep being trapped somewhere you don’t want to be, right?

2. Enchanted (2007)

If you think Disney princesses are all animated, try and see Enchanted for a change. The unique storyline of Giselle magically transforming into her live-action version as Narissa, the ruthless queen, an evil sorceress, pushed her into a well is always a favorite for me. Giselle and many others from the kingdom of Andalasia transformed into their live-action selves, all with different purposes and goals. With all of them chasing each other, the movie is filled with action and fun chaos. And that’s on top of the bucket-full amount of romance scenes. Sure, there’s a fair share of heartbreak and sadness in this movie, but the fun, songs, colors, and love of the characters for each other compensated for them all!

Lessons from the movie:

Even if a place is very much unknown to you, the thought of someone you love also being there in that unknown is enough for you to brave it. Enchanted taught us that despite the many uncertainties in life, love will help get you through everything. Giselle showed us how it is normal to be different and unique, and that you don’t have to be afraid to be who you are. Lastly, Enchanted taught us to not be scared to try new things, because the most important thing in life is doing what you love and doing things for the people you love.

1. TinkerBell Movie Series (2008-2015)

Some of you may be thinking: TinkerBell? As your top Disney movie? Really? Seriously, if you haven’t watched any movie from the TinkerBell Movie Series, you’re missing more than half of your Disney-obsessed life. It is safe for me to say that the TinkerBell Movie Series is one of the most underrated Disney film series. The movies are all God-tier, from the animations, colors, soundtrack, and storyline. I haven’t watched any TinkerBell movie that I did not like. However, of course, I have my favorites, and that would be The Secret Of The Wings and The Pirate Fairy. If you’re looking for a sign to binge-watch all of TinkerBell’s movies, including the mini films, this is it!

Lessons from the film series:

To be honest, summarizing all the lessons that I got from the TinkerBell film series will be a long task. However, my favorite one would have to be not being afraid to be what you are and to do what you are destined to do. Additionally, the movies made me realize the importance of friends, and how they will always be there for you through thick and thin.

I also learned that it is important to know yourself and your abilities. That way, you will be able to be with the right people, you will be able to extend your capabilities to their fullest, and you’ll see how amazing you are. It taught us to be curious and to never be afraid to seek the answers. Lastly, TinkerBell has made me learn a lot of lessons, but this one sticks the most: embrace your weaknesses as they will make you the strongest someday. Who knows, you may think that you are the weakest, but you might actually be the main character, right?

The magic of Disney as it lives in us forever

Well, it is indeed undeniable that Disney movies have been a great part of our childhood, and adulthood as well, of us. May it be because of the music, the lessons, the characters, the storyline, or whatever reasons—we know that Disney played a huge role in our lives as a child, and maybe as an adult too. We may try to deny it and say no, but we know that we will always come back to that white palace with a hovering shooting star we have always considered our home.
