Autumn and the Beauty of Letting Go

We become a memorial of those who had left us, they may no longer be with us physically but the stories and memories that we once built with them and tell to others now, make them still feel alive.

‘Ber months is already here, leaves are already turning into fiery and golden hues. In some parts of the world, they call it the autumn season, but in tropical countries like here in the Philippines, we never had the chance to experience this magnificent season. Nonetheless, the way autumn makes every landscape either breathtaking or melancholic, it is such a beautiful reminder to each person that sometimes letting go is also beautiful.

THE ANALOGY OF AUTUMN

Letting go is the most understated term. When I say, “I already need to let go,” people will always think it’s a derogatory remark. Letting someone or something go can often have a very negative connotation to someone.

Do we really understand the deeper meaning of letting go?

Autumn is a very hard season. For some, it’s a season of grief, a beginning of hibernation. I can’t really imagine how melancholic the image autumn season had already painted from generation to generation. But this season is also a very beautiful reminder that everything that once lived must die. Each leaf from the branches of trees that’s been holding on for a long time falls down. Just like us, we also collide, we fall short sometimes. But, eventually, we get back at the right season in a full circle.

THE BEAUTY OF LETTING GO

There’s a weight of expectation being put on to us by other people, especially when the topic is all about letting go. It’s hard to let someone or something go when our hearts still have a burden to carry. Yet, we should come to think that it’s not always a positive burden to bear. There are seasons when it’s already time to walk away and let go of a commitment when it’s already so detrimental, especially to you.  And that’s a brave thing that someone can ever do.

Nature’s resilience and its willingness to thrive whatever season comes never ceased to inspire me, especially; fall. But isn’t it beautiful? Because after autumn, comes the winter season; from the season of letting go, we transition into the season of acceptance. And after that, here comes Spring, and from that, we begin our journey again to where our story had previously ended.
