Andrea Torres bids farewell to Sisa
Kapuso actress Andrea Torres wrote a message on Twitter last Saturday to bid goodbye to Sisa, the role she played in GMA’s “Maria Clara At Ibarra.”
Since Torres appeared in the show to depict the iconic character, she has left a remarkable impression among the viewers and netizens in general. In particular, she earned admiration for rebranding the symbolic figure in Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere.”
In November last year, Torres went viral following an episode in “Maria Clara At Ibarra” where Sisa lost her sanity. The climactic sequence was one of the peak highlights of the character, and Torres was lauded for giving a justified portrayal.
After 75 episodes, Sisa’s role in the series finally concluded with her dramatic death mourned by his child, Basilio. She was shot by the Spaniards during the hunt for Crisostomo Ibarra who fled after being detained for inciting a revolution.
As Sisa exits the program, Torres took to Twitter to pen a dedication:
“Sisa, maraming salamat sa karangalan na maisabuhay ang kwento mo. At maraming salamat sa inyong lahat at pinapasok niyo kami sa inyong mga puso,” she wrote.
Torres added: “Isa ito sa mga role na di ko kailanman mabibitawan. At haaaay, hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa biyayang ito.”
Many netizens expressed their gratitude and respect for Torres. They said it would be hard to match the impression she left as Sisa.
Starting next week, “Maria Clara At Ibarra” will tackle book two of Rizal’s novel, “El Filibusterismo.” It is yet to be known how the plot will progress and whose characters will remain.
