5th VP Choice Awards: SB19 and Energy FM dominates the Music & Radio Category
Icons in their own regard, 106.7 Energy FM and SB19 dominated the Music and Radio category of the 5th VP Choice Awards.
VP Choice Awards, on its 5th year, once again heard the Pipol’s voice as they recognized the excellent brands and the brightest stars, determined by the votes casted by the fans and supporters themselves and through the guidance of the panel of experts.
May 21st marked the most awaited red carpet graced by the personalities in entertainment, business, lifestyle, and technology that truly won the hearts of the Pipol through their talents, services, and crafts. This year’s VP Choice Awards follows the theme “Celestial Radiance: A Night of Luminous Elegance,” allowing the stars to shine brighter on the most awaited prestigious red carpet and awards night this year.
Meanwhile, to determine the winners, the Pipol themselves and the panel of judges for the 5th VP Choice Awards—namely Maita Martinez, Lady Agua, Dr. Darwin Ferrolino, Jay Vincent Mateo, Peter Jan Icogo, Caz Edmunds, and Patrick Cabusay— played significant roles. The award giving body produced by Red Entertainment and Village Pipol Magazine employed the following voting criteria in naming this year’s awardees:

Pipol’s Voice, Pipol’s Choice: The 5th VP Choice Awards Winners
Being the most followed and engaged award-giving event in the country with millions of reach, Pipol around the world, especially the nominees’ fans and supporters looked forward to the night of glitz and glamour of this year’s VP Choice Awards. As the red carpet unfolded, the most anticipated awards night heard the Pipol’s voice and revealed the Pipol’s choice, announcing the official winners on its 5th year in the industry.
SB19 reigns Supreme at the 5th VP Choice Awards
The P-pop phenomenon, SB19, composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin has once again claimed their rightful spots in the hall of Fame. Fresh off their sold out Pagtatag! Finale Concert, the quintet has now successfully dominated the VP choice awards for five consecutive triumphant years.
As a collective result of the Pipol’s voice and the approval of the panel of judges, SB19 has bagged three awards in total in the Music & Radio category.
Specifically, John Paulo Nase, also known as Pablo, takes home the award for Composer of the year for his stellar work in SB19’s hit single, GENTO. With over 1.8 million posts on TikTok, GENTO undoubtedly became an anthem not only in the Philippines, but around the world.
Moreover, GENTO earned two separate nods for Music Video of the Year and P-pop Song of the Year. Released in May of 2023, the song quickly took over TikTok pulling thousands of fans around the world to participate in the GENTO dance craze. Additionally, the music video for the song now sits at 41 million views, and it just keeps on growing.
Along with A’tins, SB19 has definitely come a long way since 2019. After an intense voting period and deliberation, the quintet has successfully dominated another year in the VP Choice Awards.
More Energy for 106.7 Energy FM
106.7 Energy FM wins big at the recent 5th VP Choice awards, bagging three awards from the Music & Radio category.
In particular, the radio station won the FM Radio station of the year edging out 5 more co-nominees in the category. A well deserved win, after being in service of their Panggas for many years.
Furthermore, DJ Lindsay bags the award for Female Radio DJ of the year for her work in Energy FM’s Lihim ng Liham. Consecutively, Papa Jackson takes home the title of Male Radio DJ of the year for his stellar contributions in uphoding Filipino stories everyday.

Additionally, Gandang Kara has officially received her Hall of Fame trophy for being awarded as a Female Radio DJ for three consecutive years.
