What happened during Miss Planet International 2022? Wilbert Tolentino shares behind-the-scenes videos
Since the cancellation of Miss Planet International 2022, we haven’t heard any update from Herlene Budol. Considering the turn of events that conspired during her first international pageant, it is quite understandable that she’s still recovering.
In case you still haven’t heard, Miss Planet International will be pushing through with its pageant in January. However, we still have no idea if Herlene will fly to Cambodia as she already withdrew from the competition.
To give us pageant fans some insights into what really happened in Uganda, Wilbert Tolentino uploaded a vlog on his YouTube channel. Here, we get to see some behind-the-scenes from the earlier days of the pageant leading up to its tumultuous point.
The calm before the storm
Naming the video, “The Full Story of Miss Planet International”, the vlog begins with the organization’s preparation prior to the candidate’s arrival.
From the sashing ceremony to the rehearsals, at first glance, you would think that everything is smooth sailing. In the clips presented, you can see Herlene’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn, seizing every moment.
Further diving into the vlog, there are also videos taken from the candidate’s tour around the host city of Kampala. As the candidates wander the city and discover more about its fascinating past, Herlene is seen bonding with them.
Trouble in paradise
From what we have heard, Miss Planet International has been exposed by its candidates for its poor management.
At the end of the vlog, it shows the brewing tension between the candidates and the local organizers. Visibly upset and angry, the candidates have no other option but to depart.
In one video, a candidate can be heard yelling at the resort’s employees and ordering them to let everyone out. Herlene can be seen sobbing in another video appealing to a staff to let her go home.
