VP/Tech | realme 13+ 5G: Epic Gaming Power

After the success of the realme 13 Pro Series, the brand adds another device to their number series. With the prevalence of gaming now more than ever, realme launches the realme 13 Pro+ 5G.
In a recent review, we’ve already established what this phone can do as a gaming device, so now we’re about to look at the bigger picture. Now it’s time to test the realme 13+ 5G and dive into everything it offers.
In this edition of VP Tech, we’ll be reviewing the realme 13+ 5G and see if it could lead us to victory not just in the games we play, but also in our daily life.
Build and Display

Coming in two colors: Victory Gold and Dark Purple, the realme 13+ 5G will make you feel like a champion when you hold it. Sporting a Victory Legend Design, the phone sports a speedy curve arc design that helps enhance your grip even when gaming becomes competitive.
Our experience gaming with the phone was comfortable even after several hours of intense gameplay. Weighing only 185g, you can hardly feel like carrying anything when using the phone.
Furthermore, the realme 13+ 5G features a flat 6.67” OLED FHD+ display that will surely give justice to the magical worlds of the games you’re playing. With a 92.67% screen-to-body ratio, you can ensure immersive gaming and viewing experience from the phone.

Capable of getting up to 120Hz refresh rate, the phone delivers smooth graphics especially paired with a 6-axis hypersensitive gyroscope. With those working hand in hand, the phone enables a more precise aim control when playing first-person shooting games like COD or PUBG: Mobile.
Lastly, the phone has IP65 dust and water resistance making sure it’s protected against environmental hazards and accidents. Speaking of accidents, the phone also sports realme’s own ArmorShell protection technology that boosts its overall durability. We don’t recommend smashing it after losing a game, but you won’t have to worry when it drops accidentally.
Performance and Gaming

If you’ve read our gaming review of the realme 13+ 5G a few days ago, you’ll know how much this unit excels in gaming. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy, the realme 13+ 5g can run any game you want.
As a refresher, the realme 13+ 5G has a GT Mode and a Vapor Chamber cooling system that allows it to perform extremely well even with games like Genshin Impact, Honor of Kings, and Call of Duty: Mobile.
A few more days after our initial gaming review, the phone consistently maintained its tenacity in running games without issues. Additionally, the unit also has a TÜV SÜD Lag-Free Mobile Certification that ensures users a smooth and Esports-capable device.

On the other hand, you can even choose between smooth mode or game mode depending on your priorities. With AI Boost 2.0, users can choose between prioritizing overall performance or optimizing gaming performance in their daily runs.
With its powerful MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset, a prioritized GT Mode for gaming, and AI Boost 2.0, the realme 13+ 5G presents a perfectly balanced device with a choice to prioritize gaming if needed.
If you want to know more about the realme 13+ 5G’s gaming powers, then definitely head on over to our previous realme 13+ 5G gaming impressions.
Storage

Of course, with tremendous gaming power comes tremendous RAM and storage. The realme 13+ 5G utilizes 12GB LPDDR4X RAM. On top of that, the device also uses up to 14GB of its internal storage to act as virtual RAM through its Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) feature.
Activating DRE, the unit allows you to choose between 4GB, 8GB, and 14GB of internal storage to use as virtual RAM. Hypothetically, choosing the 14GB option gives you 26GB of RAM in total. 24GB of RAM that can help you not only with running games but also with running apps faster.
Moreover, the device has 256GB of massive storage that will be vital in storing photos, videos, music, and apps you’ll be using. This is on top of a Micro SD card provision that can expand our storage even more for endless possibilities.
Battery and Charging

In terms of batteries, the realme 13+ 5G packs a 5000mAh battery that’s optimized for years of usage. The brand claims this battery could last up to 7 hours of gaming on just a single charge. That’s one too many Mobile Legends matches for us to count in just a single charge.
Given that power, this also entails all-day use if you manage your battery usage properly. So, what more are you looking for? You get a battery that’s not just long-lasting, but also something that promises to maintain peak battery life even after at least three years.
Moreover, the phone also has 80W SUPERVOOC charge capabilities with 38 safety protections to make sure your battery health will not deteriorate anytime soon. With no time to waste, the phone can reach 50% in as fast as 19 minutes and 100% in 44 minutes.
Given that the game never stops and waits, the realme 13+ 5G ensures you’re not missing out on any of your matches. In fact, the brand says a single charge for only one minute can allow 20 minutes of Honor of Kings, even up to 3 hours if you charge it for 10 minutes.
Camera

In terms of cameras, the realme 13+ 5G boasts a 50MP Sony LYT600 OIS camera at the back and a 16MP selfie camera at the front. Without beating around the bush, the cameras perform decently well. I could tell that enough love was still given to the unit’s cameras even with the heavy focus on gaming.

Photos taken using the realme 13+ 5G were crisp and vibrant without feeling oversaturated. The OIS functionality comes in handy for taking clear photos and videos casually.

There’s not much to say aside from this camera being a flexible choice for people who do not want to exchange gaming performance for cameras. It has all the ingredients for a good camera when you use it correctly and with intent.
Overall Thoughts
As a midrange device, the realme 13+ 5G has all the perks of a phone capable of delivering a balanced or optimized performance. As more and more options become available in the market, this device presents an all-rounder answer for people looking in the midrange market.
Its MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chip pretty much locks its reliability in terms of its overall and gaming performance. Add its large battery and fast-charging capabilities into the mix and you get a well-rounded phone whether you’re just the everyday hustler or the heavy gamer.
