Following the realme 12 series, realme just launched the realme 13 Pro Series 5G in the Philippines with the realme 13 Pro 5G and realme 13 Pro+ 5G. Touted as the “DLSR in your Pocket,” this device aims to ease their consumers of carrying heavy equipment for shooting high-quality photos.
With a solid Monet-inspired design, it aims to bring professional camera artistry into the comfort of our phones. In this VP Tech edition, we’ll test the realme 13 Pro 5G and see if it paints a picture of a great smartphone.
Design
The realme 13 Pro 5G comes in two colorways: Monet Purple and Emerald Green. For the Monet Purple, realme and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston worked together to achieve the fleeting light essence of Monet’s Haystacks and Water Lilies paintings.
Meanwhile, the Emerald Green stands out with its Silky Premium Vegan Leather texture.
Not only are the colorways interesting, but it’s also comfortable to hold weighing only 190g for the Monet Purple and 185.5 grams for the Emerald Green.
Build and Display
With a 93% Screen-to-Body ratio, the realme 13 Pro 5G sports a 6.7” FHD+ OLED display capable of up to 120Hz refresh rate. The phone also has an ArmorShell Protection and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for extreme protection.
Moreover, the phone also supports Pro-XDR, 2160Hz PWM Dimming, and 20,000 levels of automatic brightness. These features make sure that the phone’s display is always optimized and eye-safe no matter what lighting conditions you may be in.

These are mostly AI features that could identify eye fatigue and adjust the display’s color temperature. In addition to this, the phone also received an SGS AI Eye Protection Screen Certification that seals the deal in terms of its display’s safety.
Furthermore, the realme 13 Pro 5G also has an IP65 dust and water resistance rating that ensures it can withstand dust and low water pressure splashes from any direction.
Camera
As for its cameras, the realme 13 Pro 5G comes with a 50MP Sony LYT600 camera with OIS, an 8MP Ultra Wide-angle camera, and a 32MP Sony front-facing camera. Posed as the DSLR in your pocket, there are a lot of expectations surrounding the cameras on this phone.
Moreover, realme has integrated a lot of AI features into its image processing and the camera itself. Firstly, there’s the AI Ultra Clarity that enhances resolution and clarifies blurry images. Now you can enhance those pixelated photos for free using the AI Ultra Clarity feature in the phone.
Second, it also has the AI Smart Removal feature that recognizes unwanted objects and photobombers in your pictures and digitally removes them. Third, it has AI Audio Zoom that utilizes beamforming algorithms and AI Noise Reduction technologies to selectively enhance the sound of the object you’re focusing on or zooming in on.
Lastly, there’s an AI Group Photo Enhance feature that can optimize the clarity of all the faces within a group photo. This feature ensures that everybody in the photo remains focused and detailed regardless of the lighting and angle from which the photo was taken.
Overall, photos taken using the realme 13 Pro 5G turned out extremely clear and detailed. This might be its AI HyperRAW algorithm in action, but the sample photos we took from the phone were nothing short of exceptional in detail.
Portraits also stood out upon our testing of the phone. In true DSLR in your pocket fashion, portraits have great edge detection and bokeh effect. I’m super impressed by how clear and sharp the photos turned out as you can see from our sample shots below.
Performance
As for its performance, the realme 13 Pro 5G carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor paired with an Adreno 710 GPU. Not only can this phone take beautiful photos, but it also can handle most games and multi-tasking your lifestyle may entail.
As for our testing, it had no trouble running Mobile Legends: Bang Bang within its highest settings. However, it starts encountering some frame drops when running heavier games like Genshin Impact. It could run the game though; we suggest running the game with low to medium graphic settings to run it optimally. Nevertheless, the realme 13 Pro 5G could become your gaming phone especially if you intend to use it casually as it could carry most titles.
Moreover, it also comes with a massive 12GB+256GB storage for optimal performance and memory keeping. It even supports an additional 12GB of Dynamic RAM expansion for an even more optimized performance. Given that this device could elevate simple moments into extravagant images, massive storage seems fitted to fit all your memories in place.
Furthermore, the realme 13 Pro 5G runs with a new and improved version of realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14.

Battery
The realme 13 Pro 5G boasts a 5200mAh battery and supports 45W SUPERVOOC Charge. Additionally, it still sports all 38 of realme’s battery safety protection features including intelligent five-chip core protection and AI Smart Charging.
Based on our testing the battery could reach 0-50% in just 27 minutes of charging and 100% in about an hour. The battery also lasts a long time capable of lasting for a whole day with moderate social media and camera use.
You’ll also be glad to hear that its battery has a 4-year battery health guarantee according to realme labs. Going by this claim, the realme 13 Pro 5G’s battery could last you a long time without worrying about replacing it. This still depends on how you intend to use the phone, but it’s an added layer of durability you can’t miss out on.
Overall Thoughts
This has been one of the best camera phones we’ve ever tried from realme. It’s an improvement from its build and display to its cameras. The phone could be a great investment for your hard-earned money just in time for the start of ‘ber’ months.
