Tips on applying for an SSS Number during Quarantine
Here’s some practical advice that may help you if you’re planning to apply for an SSS number:
Search for information in Google or REDDIT
As any newbie, you should get your homework by doing a quick research about the know-hows when applying. Like in this one, you must register first online before heading to an SSS branch. Only after that, you can bring the requirements personally.
Know the rules or system of the agency
As the government is implementing social distancing in public places, every agency is doing what it can on crowd control. For that reason, SSS has a number coding scheme to make things more efficient for the applicants.
Keep calm and be early
Since the SSS number is one of the basic requirements before getting hired, expect that several people will apply for one. Even though the office starts at 8 AM, expect a long line of people waiting for it to open. Bring a book or watch a series on your phone to fight boredom. And remember, patience is a virtue.
Maintain social distancing
As you start with a new job, you would want to be healthy and disease-free. We couldn’t stress enough that you must always wear your mask and shield properly. Always bring your sanitizer with you and avoid close contact with fellow applicants. Yes, you can still chat with them to make new friends but do that safely.
Be prepared
As we heard horror stories about how slow and inefficient the government process is, we should be ready. We can complain about how they are wasting away our tax money but there are things beyond our control. The solution is, focus on the things we can. We can probably do something while waiting that will make us productive. And to avoid being more irritated, bring a snack and a beverage.
