The quiet but raw authenticity of Kristof Garcia

In this age of new digital, KUMU and Firestarter Studios find a way to showcase Filipino talents. With its first interactive live series, “Kumusta Bro?”, Kristof Garcia captured the hearts of many.

Kristoff

No fear in exploring new roles and new adventures

Kristof Garcia started as a contender in the Bidaman contest in It’s Showtime then, later on, starred in TV dramas and indie films. As of now, he’s one of the lead actors in a BL series Kumusta Bro. He may be soft-spoken but his acting credentials and winning personality make him a potential big actor. Luckily, Village Pipol had an exclusive interview with him so let’s get to know him better!

According to Kristof, he’s not choosy in terms of accepting roles and he’s willing to try anything. He always tries to get out of his comfort zone. But he finds RomComs to be interesting and he would love to get a role in this genre. Out of those he tried, his favorite one is his character as ‘Harry’. As a personal bodyguard of Dingdong Dantes in that shoe, he learned how to use a real gun and do some stunts.

What’s the biggest challenge for you as an actor?

“The biggest challenge for me is Kumusta Bro The Series. It’s my first time to do a full series and besides that, there are many ‘firsts’ that I did. I could say na this is the [wildest] and the most daring role that I portrayed kaya watch out!”

What sets you apart among other young actors today?

“I think it is my authenticity, what you see is what you get, di takot magmukhang pangit or jologs, puno ng mga pangarap, may takot at pagmamahal kay God at passionate sa lahat ng ginagawa.”

What kind of role you are aiming to play in the future?

“I can say na any kasi madami pa naman akong pwedeng explore. Mas challenging mas okay. Kung may project na mas daring pa dito sa Kumusta Bro why not.”

A loving heart for his family and public service

Behind the camera, Kristof Garcia admitted that he is an introvert who stands as the breadwinner of his family. He likes to volunteer in community activities with his mom and siblings. Aside from that, he enjoys cooking during his free time.

Where do you get the motivation or drive to do your best in work?

“This is my childhood dream, 5 years old palang ako pangarap ko na ito. Besides my family and our God, I think my biggest motivation is that I love what I’m doing. I think yun yung best formula sa lahat ng bagay na if you love what you’re doing then makikita siya with your work.”

How do you handle bashers and critics?

“At first, I get hurt or napipikon talaga ako. But now nasanay na ako at hinahayaan ko nalang. Especially now on social media maraming opinions or comments that will not necessarily be positive so dapat strong yung heart mo to take this or better yet ignore na lang.

Kristof, along with his co-actors reaped all the blessings from their hard work when the short digital series turned into a full narrative. Aside from positive responses, he said that Kumusta Bro has a mix of local and international audiences. He also pointed out that his social media followings notably grew because of the show.

Indeed, Kristof Garcia’s appeal is more than his toned body and sweet smile. With his shining personality and positive outlook in life, he’ll soar higher.
