In a social media post on August 30, The Miss Philippines explains that they have nothing against swimsuits. Explaining that instead of concentrating on a woman’s vital statistics, they would prefer to highlight other important aspects.
“The Miss Philippines is a platform for a woman’s voice to be heard, for her influence to be felt, and for her passion to promote Filipino culture and heritage be amplified.”
A runway segment is revealed to replace the swimsuit competition.
Furthermore, the pageant states that swimsuits will still be worn in occasions. Examples include photoshoots in some the country’s world-famous resorts and beaches.
